Where does gelatin come from, and can vegetarians eat it?!

Question: Where does gelatin come from, and can vegetarians eat it!?
Answers:
Gelatin is made from horses and other animal's hooves!.
No, I don't eat it but many vegetarians are unaware of it and do not check on every item!. Mainly things with jelly in them such as marshmallows, jelly beans, wine gums etc have it in them!.
And thanks for you best answer on the other question! Really appreciate it! =)Www@FoodAQ@Com

gelatin is made from the collagen of animal skin, tendons, and bones!. it is some of the "meat by product" that you read on ingredient labels!. you get it from boiling that "meat by product"!.

kosher gelatin is made from fish skin and bones!.

there are vegan friendly "gelatins" that are made from plant products!. You just have to read labels and know where to shop for the products you want!.

You can always eat whatever you want but most people who are vegetarians or vegans are because of personal political or moral reasons and they would not eat regular gelatin as doing so would mean that they were contributing to an industry that they are opposed to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gelatin comes from ground up bones of animals!. They are then boiled and the liquid is filtered!. Gelatine is also extracted from fish bladders (as used in the popular beverage guiness) the first answerer hasnt answered the question! and no vegaterians cant eat it!. Some do and they are not vegatarians i think if you look up vegatarian in the dictionary it will say something along the lines of 'a vegatatian eats NO part of an animal'Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is no rule book for your eating habits! You can eat whatever you want, but since you are so stubborn and insist on *ahem* caring *ahem* I hear it's made out of cows stomaches or something!.!.!.buh bye

To Matt T: You have no right to say that!. I do not make a living off of animals, I am simply making a point!. Vegetarians are people made of skin and bones who care more about animals then they do of their own species!. I am not bashing anyone here, or attempting to, I am speaking my mind!. And btw, I wear leather and furs and eat meat so HA!!!!!! what are you going to do about it!? sue me or something!?!?!?!? at that I can simply say: LOL!!!!!!!!!! :D I repeat once again, you have no right to accuse me of such things, so you can grab your little veggie buddy and go skipping off all the way to the mall with your list of animal testing and non testing products!!!!!!

To Matt T: I am not saying any person in general does!. I was reffering to something else!. I have my own opinion and I think it is unhealthy to be a veggie person!. You don't get all your food groups and seriously!.!.!.what is wrong with milk!?!?!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gelatin is a protein substance derived from collagen, a natural protein present in the tendons, ligaments, and tissues of mammals!. It is produced by boiling the connective tissues, bones and skins of animals, usually cows and pigs!.

Simple answer!? No it isn't vegetarian!. Hope this helps

Gelatin is protein extracted from animal bones!. It can be any type of bone - from cattle, swine, etc!.

The bones are cooked and processed to release the gelatin which is then filtered and purified!.

So, if you're going to be silly and shun animal products, I guess gelatin is off your menu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ground up bones!.

parasitic worm--when do people care more about animals than humans!. i care about both!. i am vegan and i cook for the homeless!. being vegan is not mutually exclusive with concern for your fellow humans!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
