This question is for all vegans..?!
Do you think you would eat eggs, and drink milk and eat/drink dairy, if you owned a farm and everything came off your farm!? You would know that no animals were hurt to produce it!. I've been trying to go vegan for the past month, and I was thinking about this!.!. Like, you still wouldn't eat all the store made products and everything, but would you eat your own eggs or drink your own milk!?

it's all about personal choice!. it's up to each person what they choose to consume!. but in my opinion, there is a real danger of becoming too extreme if you don't allow for cruelty-free dairy, eggs, or meat (at least in theory)!. i mean, there are a million different reasons to live a vegan/vegetarian lifestyle, and all of that is great!.!.!. but for me, what i worry about most is when people get so caught up in it that they can no longer see reason!. not wanting to support animal cruelty is the most common and the most indisputably valuable reason to adopt a vegan/vegetarian diet!. therefore, most vegan/vegetarians (ESPECIALLY the ones who cite that as their major reason) should have no problem eating at least dairy or eggs that come from family farms where they treat the animals with love and respect (plus, when you buy from them, you keep your money local, which is better for the environment and a lot of other things)!. maybe i am a little opinionated on the subject, but the way i see it, people who won't admit the good in buying animal products from local family farms are INSANE!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Hello,
(ANS) YES! I too struggled with precisely these kinds of moral (ethical) questions when I was attempting to change my diet & life style to vegan ism!.
**Personally I think if you live on a farm or small holding & you have a close relationship with the animals concerned i!.e!. care for them & help feed them etc and you know these animals are NOT being exploited & are not suffering pain then I think its morally or ethically OK to drink the milk or eat the eggs!.
**However, if the animal/s are badly kept in dreadful conditions for example cows kept in large barns & living out their entire lives on concrete floors & under artificial lighting!. Then I would class this as exploitation and thus would cause harm to the creature and then this is NOT morally acceptable!. And of course meat involves murder by humans for meat, etc!.
**If the hens & eggs are truly free range and the hens well cared for then I see no moral dilemma or difficulty but other people might disagree with me!. Were you draw the moral or ethical boundary is a highly personal matter!.
**I started off being vegan and lived a purist vegan life style for about a year but after this found it too hard so ended up becoming a vegetarian & yes! did eat yogurt, & other dairy products!. Now I am also gluten free (wheat free) so my diet is very close to a vegan one!. But this has all taken many years to feel comfortable with!.
Kind Regards Ivan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's a good question that I've been asked a lot of times!. I have given up milk because it doesn't seem right to me to drink the milk of another creature!. Milk is not natural for humans to drink past the time our mother's create it!. I've flip-flopped the egg idea in my head!. I personally will never eat eggs because they are too high in fat, and I never loved them that much anyway!. But if it came to it, and I owned a chicken as a pet, it laid an egg, if I wasn't anti-egg, I would probably eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm not sure, I think that it would depend!.
See, I wouldn't eat them because I know that I do not nutritionally require them, and that they could go to better use!.
Like, I would much rather donate all my eggs to a local shelter or leave the milk out for cats or just let the milk be used for the calves themselves and wait until the milk runs dry!.
I just think even if I owned chickens and cows, that I would have the products out to better use before I ate them myself!.
Is that okay!?

i think its up to your own personal choice, if you keep animals on a farm and treat them as pets could you really eat them!?, i couldn't eat my dog, as for the whole egg milk thing, i think from your ethical stand point its ok but if you don't like the taste!? as you can prob tell i am not a vegan or a vegetarian, i do still believe in animal welfare though and i do try to buy animal friendly, free range / woodland products, both because i don't want the animals to suffer and the food tastes better!. my fiance is a veetarain so i do eat loads of fruit and veg any way, and she keeps an eye on what i buy lolWww@FoodAQ@Com
Nope!. I still wouldn't consume dairy!.
Why!?
First, I'm not a baby cow!. Why do I need to drink cow's milk!? Oh yeah!. I don't!. Humans are the only ones who drink the milk of another species!.!.!.and on top of that, long after our initial growth period!. That's just not natural!.
As far as the cheese, the eggs and whatnot, those products contain a bunch of cholesterol that my body doesn't need!. Our bodies make cholesterol naturally!. We don't need extra!.
I guess if I had my own farm with chickens and cows, I'd just have some expensive pets!. I wouldn't sell their milk or eggs to anyone either!. :-)
::EDIT:: to the guy a few spots above me with the pink hair!.!.!.you're right!. the milk should go to its righful owners- the calves first!. and if there is leftover, i like the idea of giving it to the farm cats!Www@FoodAQ@Com

why do vegans say milk is not natural!.!.!.!.lasttime i checked we are the only species who artificially creates a method to fly in the air!.!.!.!.we have no wings but you dont mind flying!.!.!.!.bit hypocritical to slam somthing as not natural when everything we do is not natural!.!.!.no animal has computer chips naturally or cars, trains, plains, buses computers, electricity(supply, not the eel)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I personally wouldn't!.
Even though there was no suffering to produce these eggs and milk, I just don't consider eggs and milk as something to eat or drink!.
It's like!.!.!. say your friend just had a baby and she's got some extra milk (human breast milk)!. Would you drink that milk!?!? No!.
But then that's just me!. I know a lot of vegans who wouldn't but maybe there are some who would!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

no!. it used to be about animal cruelty, but now i just dont want anything from animals, even if they are not hurt, we shouldnt be using thier bodies for food!. plus, it wrong if you drink the milk and take it when they have cattle!. the animals should be free to breed naturally!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I might eat eggs if I owned a chicken!. But I would give first preference to my family!. I wouldn't drink milk from my own cow!. Cows milk is for calves, not humans!.
Oh, and I laughed at eating your own eggs and milk!. Think about it! Not that nice!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

not me!. because since ive gone vegan its no longer about just how the animals are treated!. i don't want to exploit people or animals for my benefit, and that includes boycotting the gap clothing store because they use child labor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No I always get asked questions like this!.
Its still from an animal so no vegans would not eat eggs or drink milk not even from their own animals!. They wouldn't be Vegan if they ate that now would they!.
