What is that wet-looking (oil) stuff on veggie burgers?!

Question: What is that wet-looking (oil) stuff on veggie burgers!?
Is it fat!? After you microwave them they're all greasy kind of, and I'm wondering if I should dry them up like a slice of pizza to reduce fat grams!.

Thanks all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Fat = oil, guys!.

YES vegetable oil does come from vegetables, sheesh! What do you think it comes from, animals!? No!.!.!. mostly corn!. Corn is a vegetable!. Well it could be a grain, but in typical culinary applications we call it a vegetable!.

It's true that vegetable oil is not as bad for you as animal fats!. However, the vegetable oil could be hydrogenated anyway!. Hydrogenated and saturated fats are the bad ones - they include trans fats, which you hear so much about!. They are the wrong shape so they clog your arteries much more readily!.

You should check the nutritional info for your veggie burgers!. If it has a high proportion of saturated/trans fats, the oil you're looking at is artery-clogging!. If it has more unsaturated fats, you can probably eat away happily, oil and all!.

The trick to maintaining a healthy weight is not to CUT fat from your diet, but to eat more of the GOOD fats and stop eating the BAD fats!. Good fats improve your health, round out your curves, and are especially important for women who could someday have a child!. They lower your risk of heart attack!. They pad your cells and ensure there is plenty of available fat for your brain, which needs a lot of fat to function properly!. BAD fats clog your arteries, cause heart attacks, and make you fat and flabby in unpleasant places!.

Again, oil = fat!.!.!.!. fat = oil!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it's grease and chemicals!.!.!. veggie burgers are not veggie!.!. they have casein (diary) in them!.

and the additives are astounding!.!.!. you can't reduce fat doing anything dear, that soaking towel stuff and or dripping the fat off doesn't reduce anything, fat is fat!.

read the labels people, learn what junk is in your processed foods, time to get cracking on this education!

(read about the processed food diet, once you have you'll wish you never put anything processed in your mouth!.)

and learn about why most processed vegan and vegetarian foods are not vegan/vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

OK, you're vege-burgers are likely different to the one's we get but nonetheless the wet-looking stuff is likely an emulsion of both oil and water/vege-juices and for flavor & nutrition I'd think you're better off retaining it - especially if you're vegetarian, a small amount of good fats&oils is good for you - if you can't metabolise it you need to exercise more

NB: the different between fat and oil - fat is a solid, oil is a liquid, if you melt a fat it will become oil, and if you vegetable oil gets cold enough it will thicken and turn to fat

NB: fats/oils can't actually make you fat, like carbohydrates they must be turned into energy your body can use!. Only if this energy looks like it will be wasted then your body may want to save it for later - to do this it converts the energy (whether it came from fat or not) to a kind of human fat that it can kinda re-digest later if it needs it!.

You body uses fat because it holds more energy than sugars/carbohydrates would!. This is why dieters stay away - a teaspoon of oil has more potential energy than one of sugar or starch!.

So finally, none of this should worry you if you're healthy - being fat and eating fats are not the same at allWww@FoodAQ@Com

It is what it is!.!.!. oil and fat!. After you're done microwaving them, place a paper towel on a plate and let them rest there for a while it'll eventually soak most of them in!. If you want to get rid of more on it, dab another dry paper towel on the pizza and the oil should be reduced!. Doing anything else to dry the pizza will make it lose its taste!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's fat!. (fyi to some posters oil is fat)!. Check the label and you will see how much of it there is per serving!. And while your at it, check other ingredients such as preservatives and sodium!.!.!. a little fat won't be a problem but continuous consumption of high amounts of sodium and other preservatives will!.!.

some commercial "veggie burgers" are not as healthy as some people might think!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe it is soybean oil or olive!. If so, it is okay for you and you don't even need to do that, but I would probably have grilled them on a skillet or George Foreman grill anyway!. If they are 100% veggie burgers than I would assume that they don't put animal fats in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's not fat because it's made from vegetables, and vegetables don't have "fat" like you're thinking!. It's oil, which is a fat, but vegetable-based oils are actually good for us!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is veggie oil, probably soybean!. It is added to the recopy so the burgers can be grilled on a BBQ grill!. You can towel it off if you want!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its most probably vegetable oil!. It is not that harmful as compared to animal fat, so no need to worry!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat original Boca burgers and have never noticed this!. Maybe you should change brands-these only have 0!.5g fat per burger!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's oil!. There has to be SOMETHING put on it to make it taste like something besides cardboard!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

its just the oils from the vegetables when they are heated up they release the oils, and they are fine no fat in it at allWww@FoodAQ@Com
