Taste of Blue agave nectar?!

Question: Taste of Blue agave nectar!?
My friend, who wants me to use less sugar, bought some blue agave nectar!. (I don't use that much sugar, but that's another issue !.!.!.!.)

I am a bit hesitant to use it!. How is the taste!? Is it like sugar, or does it have its own taste signature as honey does (sweet, but different from sugar)!. If so can you describe that taste!?

Thanks for any insights !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am a former chef from Canada and a lacto-ovo vegetarian, and it not bad, has bit of headier flavour, like buckwheat honey or brown rice syrup, not cheap but is concentrated so you use small amounts, stevia is nice but very strong also, any of the rice, barley or sorghum syrups is nice, for a less sweet sugar I use the raw cane extract, which is not filtered or processed!.

Your best to try it see how it works for you, but try the others too, they may be what your find better or tasty to your palate!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The only blue agave nectar I know of is tequila!.!.!.heehee! I didn't realize it was available as a sweetener, but regardless of where the sugar comes from it's still sugar in the long run - either fructose, glucose, etc!. so I wouldn't worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Agave nectar is about as sweet as honey, but a little thinner!. Why don't you ask your friend if you can try a little bit of what she's got!?

I've tried stevia, and it has a nasty aftertaste reminiscent of diet sodas!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try stevia!. It's all natural, calorie-free, and actually tastes sweet like sugar!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
