Is it okay to abruptly stop eating meat when becoming a vegetarian? ?!
By the way, I don't like veggie burgers!. What can I eat to get that "meaty" taste while I make the transition!? Should I do it gradually!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I stopped immediately, and I am 16!.
I went from a hardcore OMNI to a loving, peaceful, wary vegan!.
I did this OVERNIGHT (NO LIE)
This is what turned me, just so you know

I have missed meat, eggs, and milk a bit, but I only use one meat substitute!.!.!.!.TOFU (so versatile, very good for you, and not bad for you like people who support the dairy industry would have you believe)
You should decide to do it gradually if you think you can not handle going from eating meat to not eating it!.
Oh and by the way, VEGANS and VEGETARIANS are taking over the world, just ask the other people today who decided to make the transition (it seems the cruelty of thanksgiving invokes some peoples guilt)
Here are a couple of good websites, CHECK THEM OUT (please!? *puppy dog frown*)

No need to do it gradually!.
If you don't want to eat meat for health, environment, or animal rights then just do it!.
Maybe that 'meaty' taste you crave is okay to be sacrificed when you are doing it for better reasons!.
Have you tried other veggie burgers!? Ones that have flavor!. I am vegan and pretty much only eat boca vegan burgers (which are pretty blah) but being a vegetarian there are a bunch of flavorreedd burgers!.
Morningstar Farms has a whole bunch of non meat products: pizza burger, mushroom burger, spicy black bean burger, asian-type burger, corn dogs, hot dogs, chick'n nuggets, buffalo wings, ground meat (like for tacos), chick'n strips, beef strips, chick'n pattys!.!.!.
Different brands taste different!.
But just have the willpower to remember why you want to be a vegetarian and it should come pretty easy after about 2 weeks after you've cheated a few times, but still knew you wanted to be vegetarian!.
You'll find stuff to eat too along the way!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

in yourself!. Watch some peta videos to remind you what
it is you want to eat!. Or go to publix, in the produce section
they have a lot of fake meats, meatballs, turkey, salami, hotdogs, sausages!. There are also greenwise sections with meat substitutes!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hello,
Congrats on making the transition! I did it cold turkey, I watched the video Earthlings and I cried so hard that I could never eat another piece of meat!. I recommend cleaning out your house of all food products and then when your done go thru the rest of the food and read the ingredients!.!.!.alot of food has Animal Fat in it!.!.!.!.
To answer your question, should you do it abruptly!.!.!.you can if you want but your body will have to adjust!. You will have cravings, I do still and its been about 5 months, but if you think about the way animals are treated, slaughtered and treated while they are alive you will let your craving go until it ends!.!.!.!.
Try tofu!.!.!.!.its AMAZING!! Try it at a place like YC's Mongolian Grill!.!.!.or a Chinese restaurant!.!.!.before you bring it home and try to cook it!.!.!.!.it takes a little getting used to but with an open mind your new meals can be amazing and delicious all at the same time!! Depending where you live, go check out your health food stores like Sprouts, Trader Joes or even Fry's Marketplace (Some have an organic area! Costco also has some really good vegetarian food like Boca Burgers and Morning star sausages!.!.!.!.Mmmm yummy! Best of luck, dont give up, it will be hard at first but your body will thank you!
also look up vegetarian starter kit on google and you can order some free booklets to read!! Www@FoodAQ@Com
