Answers:
You are gaining weight because you are eating more calories!.
You are not loosing your hair because you are a vegetarian!.
When choosing what to eat, think this way: the less people who have touched the food before you, the better it is for you!.!.!. fresher = better!.
So, when picking vegetables, pick fresh over frozen, frozen over canned!.
The more something is processed the more 'junk and empty calories' there is in it!.
Same with vegetables!. Fresh over frozen, frozen before canned!. Less calories and better for you!.
Frozen vegetables are really very good though!. But not the stuff with sauces and flavorings etc!. Try this: you get several bags of frozen veg!.s, and a bag of soy crumbles (looks like hamburger crumbles and it frozen, maybe Morningstar Farms), then get a bowl, put a little of several vegetables, & a little crumbles and put some margarine on top (not too much) and some seasoning salt (or whatever you like) and microwave it, stirring 1/2 way through!. Always have bananas and apples and oranges on hand and eat them between meals!. Buy dried lentils, and other dried beans and make your own soups, make a big batch and freeze servings to micro wave when your hungry!. Write down what you eat in a week and see if you can improve the quality!.
Don't blame vegetarianism for gaining weight, it has to do with a million small choices!. Eating fresher and eating informed is the ticket, and 30 minutes of brisk walking everyday will do you wonders!.
luck to you~Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are losing hair it is probably due to the sudden or extreme reduction in protein you are experiencing!. Diet related hair loss is temporary but you must get the nutrients to grow it back!. If you are really serious about being a vegan, read up on the sources of protein and start eating them daily!.(eggs, peanut butter, Boca Burgers which are soy -there are many sources!) You can also supplement your diet with Boost High Protein which is a dietary drink (not made to lose weight, just to supplement your diet for maximum nutrition) which comes is 3 or 4 flavors and is good!. Sometimes when you stop eating meat, you substitute some calorie-laden foods, which do not provide anything but fat to your body!. You body is metabolizing things differently and the protein and iron you are not getting ( I assume) is actually slowing it down!. If you are suffering a loss in menstral periods or anything else, see a doctor!. You need a certain amount of good fats to help you digest foods and to regulate certain organs in your body, not to mention vitamins for brain fuction (memory) and calcium to prevent bone loss!. I do hope your parents are helping you monitor this decision!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hello, I wouldn't listen to many of the answers here!. I've been vegetarian for 17 years, and I'm very healthy!. You may have a health issue unrelated to your diet-- such as a thyroid condition that can cause you to gain weight while eating normally!. (unless you're eating tons of junk food)!. The American Dietetic Association states, "It is the position of the American Dietetic Association and Dietitians of Canada that appropriately planned vegetarian diets are healthful, nutritionally adequate and provide health benefits in the prevention and treatment of certain diseases!." In fact, while it is possible to eat flesh and be very healthy also, the consumption of large amounts of animal protein can be harmful to your health, which is why many doctors and dietitians are recommending to at least cut back on it!.

I would suggest going to your doctor to look for other conditions!. No one here can suddenly blame your diet for problem without having a medical degree!. To do so is irresponsible, regardless of ones personal bias on dietary choices!. You need a medical exam by a professional if you're experiencing health problems!. If a meat eater told me they were losing hair, I wouldn't assume suddenly that it's because they're eating meat!.!.!. and neither should someone assume that about you!. Most people who are losing hair and gaining weight!.!.!. I think it's fair to say--- are stuffing meat down their throats!. So no one should jump to unreasonable conclusions!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's not difficult to be healthy on a vegetarian diet, but it's important to be sure you're eating right!.

Here's a great book to start with, covering all the basics of vegetarian nutrition!. Get it from a local bookstore or your library:
http://www!.amazon!.com/New-Becoming-Veget!.!.!.

Since you are seeing health problems, PLEASE speak to a doctor or a dietician as soon as possible!. You will likely need to make some adjustments in your diet!. You are a growing teenager and need plenty of protein, vitamins, iron, calcium, and other nutrients!. A dietician can help you devise a meal plan to ensure you're meeting all your needs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You say you eat right!. what does that mean!. There is certainly something wrong if you ae gaining weight Maybe you should have a check up at the doctors if you are loosing your hair!. Everyone looses a bit of hair !. Is it excessive is your weight gain excessive Is your fat intake to high !. There is no need to eat meat if you are eating the right amounts of protein fibre and vitaminsWww@FoodAQ@Com

NON VEGETARIANS!.!.!.!.Dont listen to them!!! They think us vegetarians are retards because we dont get enough protein!.!.!.idiots!.!.!.!.

Being 15 Years old in its self is going to be a reason for hair loss, weight gain/weight loss, crazy hormones!.!.!.!.and a billion other things!

I would recommend seeing a doctor and just getting checked out!.!.!.!.just because of your age!.!.!.!.but honestly ive been a vegetarian for a little less then you so far and I havent seen hair loss but everybody is different!.

Research for a vegetarian daily vitamin, no matter what diet you have you need to have a daily vitamin!. Spend some time at the library, or book store and read some information about a proper diet as a vegetarian!.

Best of luck, you can do it and once again its your body and if you dont want to eat meat filled with hormones, and chemicals and support the abuse that these poor animals endure daily!.!.!.!.THEN GOOD FOR YOU!.!.!.!.and me!!! ;-) Www@FoodAQ@Com

you may be not eating as right as you think you are!.!. Sounds like you need to fix your old vegetarian diet into a healthier, more balanced, new one!.!. Are you living on pizza and pasta!? Do you get your daily protein!? How about Vitamin B12!? Iron!? You should look at a vegetarian health guide Www@FoodAQ@Com
