Thinking about becoming vegetarian?!

Question: Thinking about becoming vegetarian!?
I am thinking about becoming a vegetarian because I don't like meat, saw the earthlings video (omg that was depressing), and I don't believe in eating something that has been tortured for my enjoyment!. The only thing i am worried about is not getting the nutrition i need!. Should i take vitamins!? will i get sick of only being able to eat certain kinds of food!? my family like to eat meat and i don't think they will take me seriously!. any suggestions for anything i just said!?!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

First off, congratulations!. Being vegetarian is definately a social challenge!. Many well intentioned people offer their mislead opinions about this lifestyle!.!.!. purely out of concern and love!. Accepting their good intentions, and taking from it their love is important!. But keep focused on what you believe to be right for yourself and remind yourself of why you made this decision!.

I am a raw vegan!. I have 4 children who are not!. My youngest son suffers from excema and skin problems, and decided to give up dairy 3 weeks ago!. His excema is improving quickly!.!.!. enough to motivate him to try vegetarian!. His father and step mother strongly disapprove, sighting many myths about the diet as concerns!. They are concerned because they love him, and they have never searched for correct information about this wonderful lifestyle!.

I don't believe we need take any vitamins!. You will need to ensure however that you are getting enough exposure to the sun for natural vitamin D, and lots of leafy greens in your daily diet!. There are many powdered "green drinks" on the market, and they are all beneficial in achieving your daily requirements of everything!. It can take a few tries to "get a taste" for them, but once you do, your body will surely crave them!.

If you are worried about your protein, try eating Hemp Hearts!. They are available at most health food stores and are a wonderful tasting little seed that is easily sprinkled on salads, sandwiches, mixed with sauces!. You can add them to anything!. They are rich in proteins and essential fats and oils!. Give them a try, you will love them!!

also, check out these web sites!. My son has found them very helpful in his efforts to change his lifestyle!. I am assuming that you are a young person!.!.!. and apologise if my assumption is incorrect!. If you are, and your parents are "against" you, remember, it's because they love you!. If you can educate yourself and them on the wonderful health benefits of a plant based diet, they will surely find comfort, and you will in turn get the support you need and deserve!.

Nutritionists cringe when they hear a person is a vegetarian!. They know it is not a healthy diet!. Vegetarians traditionally don't get enough protein, and this is not good for the body's health, now and for the future!.
Go research the subject carefully, figure out how to get your nutrients in for the day, in order to convince your family!.
and anyone who is still growing should not be vegetarian!. You need those dairy products for strong bones!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

protein: nuts, legumes, soybeans/tofu, peanut butter, really anything

b vitamins: grains, TVP, spinach, etc

iron: beans, nuts, legumes, breads, cereals

calcium: fortified soy and rice milk

vitamin D: the sun :D

don't take vitamins unless you REALLY have to!.
if you know where to look you can get all of your nutrients!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
