What protein foods can a vegan, lacto-vegetarian and a lacto-ova vegetarian eat? ?!
I have food tech!. homework due in this week so please answer soon if you know!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
By definition, in order,
1!. - all non-animal sources e!.g!. legumes, beans, nuts and seeds, as well as spirulina, (a form of algae containing more protein by weight than any animal source) http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Spirulina_(!.!.!.
2!. - any dairy-sourced proteins (i!.e!. cheese), incl whey as well as the vegetable ones
3!. - eggs & their by-products (albumen), in addition to dairy and plant sources!.
Dairy is a contentious point however as an enzyme from the intestine of slaughtered calves (rennet) is normally used to coagulate cheese!.
http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Rennet
http://en!.wikipedia!.org/wiki/Cheese
This of course raises the question of whether the cheese is a true vegetarian food or not!. The fact that it isn't flesh is generally the answer decided on by vegetarians who still want to enjoy the variety of traditional cheeses available!.
Good luck!.

All people who eat food, whether they eat meat, or eat a mostly plant-based diet, or eat an entirely plant-based diet, eat protein,!. If they did not, they'd be dead!. So would I, as I am a long-time vegan in excellent health!. The answer above mine that quotes websites like westonprice is anti-vegetarian propaganda!. That organization is nuts!.!. They even wrote to our new president and equated feeding soy to prison inmates with torture and medical experimentation!. One of the heads of that group is one of the sickliest looking people I've ever seen!. I am far healthier than her, and I intend to outlive her by many years!.
A lacto vegetarian includes milk and other dairy products!.
A lacto-ovo vegetarian includes dairy and eggs!.
An ovo vegetarian includes eggs but no dairy!.

dont eat soy it is not a health food it damages your brain causes cancer !.!.!.
Did you know that:
-There has not been a single controlled clinical trial that has produced any reduction in CHD mortality that can honestly be attributed to saturated fat restriction or cholesterol-lowering!?
-Long-term follow-up studies have shown that those with the lowest cholesterol levels tend to live the shortest lives!?
-So-called heart-healthy polyunsaturated vegetable oils have been linked to cancer and heart disease!?
-Cholesterol-lowering drugs have not been shown to provide any longevity benefit to women, the elderly, or high-risk men free of heart disease!?
-In Japan, where low-fat diets supposedly protect people from cardiovascular disease, it is actually those who eat the most saturated fat that have the lowest rates of stroke!?
-There is no clinical evidence that eating more whole-grains will reduce your risk of heart disease!?
-Vegetarians do not live longer than people eating a typical mixed diet!?
-Most of the information disseminated by health authorities today is designed not to protect your health, but to benefit vested financial interests!?
If you believe fresh red meat and saturated animal fats cause cancer, you have been brainwashed!. If you believe a vegetarian, high-fiber, organic diet of fruits, vegetables and whole grains does not cause cancer, you have been brainwashed!.
In the scientific literature, there are surprisingly few studies done on vegetarian longevity!. Russell Smith, PhD, in his massive review study on heart disease, showed that as animal product consumption increased among some study groups, death rates actually decreased! Such results were not obtained among vegetarian subjects!. For example, in a study published by Burr and Sweetnam in 1982, analysis of mortality data revealed that, although vegetarians had a slightly (!.11%) lower rate of heart disease than non-vegetarians, the all-cause death rate was much higher for vegetarians!.

Vegans in India have the lowest life expectancy and are frail and the weakest!. However Weston price studied a Native American tribe who ate buffalo, cows, sheep, squirrels, even dogs their bone structure was perfect and they had no dergeneitive diseases!.
Many studies prove that eating red meat and natural animal fats while restricting
carbohydrates is not only healthy but will prevent and cure many diseases
There has never been a culture that has thrived as vegetarians!.!.
Depending mostly on climate conditions, the ratio of plant to animal intake varies!. In colder and more severe environments, the meat in-take is usually much larger!. This primarily occurs for two reasons:
1)plants won't grow!. You can't eat what isn't there!. (Ask an Eskimo!. He'll know!.)
2)the concentration of nutrients is much higher in meat than in vegetables!. This means you can harvest less tonnage of food!. It also means the culture can have less of an impact on the environment (then if they cut their meat in-take and became more herbivore-like!.)
Because of "survival of the fittest," there has never been a culture of herbivores!. A human that tries to become a herbivore will cause physical damage to their neurological (and other) systems!. A culture of herbivores would eventually wipe itself out!.
The easier the catch, the more an omnivorous culture will thrive!. Fishing tribes are often good examples of what plentiful meat can do to better society!.
Teeth
?32 teeth (16 on each jaw)
?20 of these are carnivore type
?These 20 are incisors, canines, and bicuspids for biting off pieces of animal flesh and crushing small, hallow bones and cartilage
12 of our 32 teeth are broad and flat for grinding!.
Interestingly in many cases, four of these 12 molars will not be able to fit in the spaces of jaws designated for posterior teeth!.
Human Evolutionary patterns may be showing us that only eight molars are sufficient for grinding the plant portions of the natural diet!.
Jaw motion
?A carnivores jaw open straight up and down like a pure hinge!. There are no circular, side to side motions as in chewing cud!. The jaw opens wide in relation to the skull!.
?A herbivores jaw works in a circular motion and the jaw opens short in relation to its size!.
?The human jaw joint does both the Sliding movement and the pure hinge!. The TMJ is labeled medically as a sliding/hinge joint
Full size mammals like cows and deer are herbivores are ruminants!.
?Ruminants have complex stomachs made up of three to four chambers!.
?Ruminants must periodically regurgitate plant matter back up into the mouth for additional chewing!.
?Human dont have multiple stomachs or have special enzymes and bacteria for digesting plant matter!.
