Are vegetables and grains that were fertilized with animal products still considered to be vegan?!
A lot of organic farms use natural cow manure as a fertilizer, are vegetables from such farms still vegan!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It is vegan because people aren't vegan for personal purity or perfection!. They remove animal products wherever practical and possible, especially where it harms or directly exploits animals to produce them!. It's about making the best choices we can!. It's impractical and impossible to research every piece of produce we buy at a store to see what kind of fertilizer they use, or whether the farmer is a jerk towards animals!. If animal poop ends up on our food to grow it is the least of animals' problems and ours!. There are plenty of other horrific things on which to focus our attention and compassion!.
Interestingly, there is such a thing as vegan organic-- or" veganic" agriculture-- which does not use animal wastes or by-products in growing, and where growers seek to do the least harm!. There are books available on the subject, and entire farms where they use these methods!. When gardening at home, people often use their own methods free of any animal materials, or there is also commercially available vegan fertilizer!. Vegan organic agriculture is actively promoted by some vegans with the idea that someday we'll have many more of these options to purchase!.
My own personal opinion is that, in the absence of produce you know is grown by vegan organic agriculture or grown yourself, the best choice a vegan can make is organic!. so Y E S ! is my answer!. But I wouldn't mind if those vegan organic veggies came my way!. I'd buy them!. !. Kinda a long answer, but I hope it helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's just one of the intertwined hypocrisies associated with vegans!.
Without manure the land would eventually turn to sand!.
They will eat the vegetables made from the cow that produces milk and will eventually be slaughtered for it's meat, but they will not eat it's milk, or meat!.
I'm not quite sure how they justify drawing that line there, but somewhere between vegetables and milk is apparently where "immoral" stands!.
"We are not using the cows blood and meat! We're using the poo, the cow still lives after it poos, or didn't you know that!?"
- I think that is pretty common knowledge, no need to make fun of the questioner!.!.!. however this raises the question of why vegans don't drink the cows milk, how is a milk cow, different from a beef cow, different from a cow who's manure makes your vegetables grow, often times all 3 are all the same exact cow!? So what's the difference!?
Sounds like a classic case of rationalizing to me!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Vegans often claim that cows are bad for the environment, but manure is the best you can get for growing organic food!.
I live near an organic farm that actually uses animals (oxen) to plough the fields!. They use mules in the harvesting!. That is how it was done many years ago, but to some that's exploitation of animals!.
That was a very interesting question and it is way above the standard of many on here!.

Yes, a person eating flora/plant produce fertilized with animal manure/products is still a vegan!. Otherwise, how would you define vegan!? Life on earth revolves by a biological cycle!. If you only want to eat plants, it is your prerogative!. But all plants need nitrogen to grow and animals deliver it to them one way or the other!.
All things on earth are interdependent!. Enjoy your fruits, vegetables and grains!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pretty much all fruit in North America organic or not is pollinated by domestic bees that live in slavery!. There is no way enough fruit could be grown without the beekeepers!. Vegans have no problem with exploiting bees to eat I can't see them having a problem with exploiting cows and sheep!. Same with life saving drugs developed with animal testing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yes, I would think so because maneur is bis-degradable and there are unknown animal products to be found in all soils as well as in fertilizers!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
lol and vegetarians think eating meat is gross!.!.!.!.personally id take meat over rotting vegetable matter decaying in your gut that was brought to life in a pile of cow crapWww@FoodAQ@Com
No! Definitely not vegan!Www@FoodAQ@Com
