I suggest going to visit a farm sanctuary and see who you're eating!. If you can still eat meat after that, perhaps it's not for you!.

And don't listen to people on a Yahoo answers page for nutritional advice!. I have noticed a lot of wrong, and even dangerously wrong information filled with personal opinion that is not based in any way on science!.

Rely on professionals for your nutritional information-- and for your health!. I did, and as a very long-term vegetarian and vegan in excellent health with many veg and vegan friends in excellent health also, I can say that you can get all your nutrition from a plant-based diet!. BUT--- whether you eat meat, or eat a vegetarian diet, or eat a vegan diet, you have to be smart about how you eat!. My nephew eats meat every day of his life, but had a nutritional deficiency, which was treated by a doctor by prescribing a supplement!. So it's not a case of whether you eat meat or not-- it's a case of making sure you eat the right foods!. The science supports that you can be healthy eating meat, or eating a vegetarian diet, or eating a vegan diet if you focus on nutrition!.

It's also important if you go entirely vegan, to include a small vitamin B12 supplement, or eat foods fortified with B12 daily!. I can hear the non-vegans bashing that, but your food is also fortified with many vitamins and minerals!.!.!.your salt is iodised, you have vitamin D added to your milk and other foods, folic acid, iron, niacin, and others!.
Why B12 doesn't end up reliably in a plant-based diet is because of modern agriculture and water treatment!. Anti-vegetarian groups online fail to mention that B12 is only produced by microorganisms and nowhere else known in nature!. Animals do not make it!. It is in their bodies because of the bacteria in their digestive systems!. That's why a cow has B12, for example, even while never eating meat!. But our digestive systems are different, so we don't absorb it where we need to-- at the end of our small intestines!. B12 is in our feces though, even when we don't eat any!. So it's important to get a small B12 supplement if you exclude all animal products!. It may be a good idea for a vegetarian too!. And it may be a good idea even if you don't eat meat!. Most people who are B12 deficient are meat eaters for problems related to absorption rather than intake!. If you're over 50, it's common for your doctor to recommend that you take a B12 supplement no matter what else you eat!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Do not eat animals, you can be healthy without eating them, you just need to know the right foods to eat, KFC suppliers cram birds into huge waste-filled factories, breed and drug them to grow so large that they can’t even walk, and often break their wings and legs!. At slaughter, the birds’ throats are slit and they are dropped into tanks of scalding-hot water—often while they are still conscious!. And many other chicken suppliers do the same thing and other animals such as pigs and cows are treated WORSE than this!. Who knows, maybe when you die you will be resurrected into one of these miserable chickens because you ate them!.also, imagine how many animals you would consume in a year, maybe 200 (chickens, cows, pigs)multiply that by your whole life span!. So you think that thousands of animals should die after having horrible lives just for you to live your life when you don't need to eat animals at all!. Good Luck, please respond to this by emailing me or commenting back!. thank you and good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't eat meat!.!.!.I stopped eating it when I was 9 years old!.

At that time, I just liked being different!. But over time, I learned a lot about meat that I found appalling, such as treatment of animals in farms, the needless crowding, adn even the more needless consumption of meat!. I realized meat is not even slightly necessary for a human to thrive, and vegetarians are typically healthier than meat-eating people due to decreased cardiovascular problems from the less saturated fat and cholesterol!.

I don't feel animals need to be tortured and have their life unnecessarily shortened because we like the taste of them!. They are beings who share many emotions that we do: happiness, sadness, fear, curiosity, desire, and even motherly qualities towards their young!. It doesn't make sense to take that away when it's not necessary!.

Plus there are so many benefits if we stopped breeding animals for food, and let them live naturally, especially for the environment as well as our well-being!.

Live and Let Live!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I stopped eating beef a while ago, I don't have a specific date!. Then gradually I stopped eating chicken, then turkey!. Now I only consume fish!.

I stopped because the animals are hurt, abused, mistreated, THEN killed, and that is against my way of life, Islam!.

Animals are supposed to be slaughtered painlessly or as painless as possible!. also they're not supposed to be slaughtered in front of other animals because that would scare them!. This is totally impossible in slaughterhouses, really!.

So now I only eat meat which is slaughtered correctly (which is rare and expensive) or don't eat it at all!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I stopped eating red meat 5 years ago, and all meat about 3 years ago!. I read the book fast food nation and that changed the way I looked at meat!. For a while after that I got sick when I thought about eating meat, then I found that I felt better not eating it!. I get sick less often!.

You can go the "scare tactic/disgust" route and watch PETA vids or read about slaughter houses!. You can read up on vegetarianism and do it for your health!. A caution about PETA: if you send for anything from them you're on their mailing list for ages!. Personally I avoid PETA because of their support of domestic terrorist groups like ALF and ELF, their sexism and the fact that they kill animals, but that's me!.

I have found that the longer I go without meat the less I want any!. Just make sure to get your nutrients other places - beans, nuts, soy, milk and eggs for protein, dark green veggies and other things for iron!. And the comments above about "needing" meat are untrue - there is nothing meat provides that you can't get other places!. You don't need meat for muscles and muscles don't "hold up" bones!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

hi, i quit eating meat about 3 years ago and have never looked back!. I was always weird about eating certain things, kinda like you and beef, so one day i got on the computer at my boyfriends work and ordered a "vegetarian starter kit" from peta mainly because it was free LOL but when i got it a few weeks later it really opened my eyes!. after that i couldnt eat meat (any kind) without picturing the poor thing as it was being killed just so i could eat it, even though there were plenty of other things i already ate that didnt involve something dying!. Now everytime i pass some cows or whatever in a field driving down the road i always say "I not eat you!" and i feel proud of myself and the choice i made!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I just stopped eating all meat about 2 months ago!.What made me stop eating meat!.!.!.was watching PETA'S undercover investigation on a pig farm!.Go to PETA'S website or YOUTUBE and you can see the horrific videos!.My favorite meat used to be pork!.!.!.but after seeing the video,I never ate pork again!.I received a PETA magazine that told all about the abuse cows, chickens, pigs, and turkeys endure on these factory farms!.I am an animal lover and after reading that!.!.!.I made the commitment to not eat meat again!.I am not saying it is an easy choice for everyone!.I am a very picky eater and so I end up mostly eating salads all the time!.But,I believe I am making the right choice for me,so I don't mind!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't like meat, I don't like the smell or the taste or the idea!. I stopped eating it when I was a little kid!. My parents didn't like that and practically forced meat down my throat but they still couldn't get me to eat it like they wanted me to lol!. I guess most people see food when they look at meat, I see a dead corpse!. =/

My advice is to find some recipes for vegetarian foods that you love!. You should go to an Indian or Thai or Greek restaurant for inspiration!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've been a strict vegetarian for 4 years and 6 months!.
At first I just wanted to try it because everyone said I wouldn't be able to do it!. Living in a house full of hunters and everything else!.
But then I did a lot of research and watched videos, im assuming like the one your friend showed you!.
and after my first month!. I decided to stop eating it for the rest of my life!.

some pictures are not for the weak!.
i also ordered packages from Peta!.
i am not brainwashed by Peta, I still have my own beliefs and dont agree with everything they do!.

I use to eat meat until i was ten years old!. I stopped when i was given a email from a friend about the peta organization!. The had this game that show how animals are treated when slaughter!. The videos i saw on that day looked like a concentration camp but filled with animals being torture!. It broke my heart seeing those sweet animals killed!. Ever since then i made a pledge to veg!.

Brave question - d'you know how many stupid dumb nonsense meaty answers you're gonna get!?!?!?!.!.!.!.!

I stopped eating meat aged 8, i really have no memory of why, either 'animals are nice' or 'i am an annoying little kid who wants to be difficult and needs to justify it somehow'!.!.!. so i read a lot and thought a little, and am still veggie (now vegan) over a decade an a half later!.!.!.!.!.

I think if you really REALLY like the taste, you should try some of the substitutes - recent converts usually like them!. I don;t remember what that stuff tastes like, but the vegan-versions are quite yum!.

If you desperately want to quit, think of them dying, suffering, bleeding etc!. I am not militant, each to their own!. also consider the ecological aspect - famine need not be such an issue if the world grew what happily grows there, which does not include factory farmed chickens, beef in the rainforest, and other such (sadly but true) cliches!.

Cook decent vege meals, follow recipes, think, in the same way people do quitting smoking, of 'achieving freedom' rather than being deprived of or giving-up anything!.

Good luck and love life (all of it)

I ate meat all my life!. However I got really sick a couple of times and I cut out beef and pork from my diet!. Once I no longer had the taste for red meat I cut out Turkey and chicken!. However I am not a vegan!. I do eat seafood!. And I am healthy and happy!. I haven't made the decision to go all the way vegan yet but I'm thinking about it!.
Much luck to you!.
Happy Holidays!Www@FoodAQ@Com

i ate meat until i was ten years old!. i was never a big meat eater though!. i just didn't really like it!. i stopped eating it all together when i found out what actually happened in order for that meat to get to my house!. i just felt so bad for the animals, i didn't want to eat it any more!. i haven't had any meat in the past 12 years and i haven't missed it once!.

you should try some of the many meat substitutes out there, like veggie burgers, soy burgers, or chicken nuggets!. they're delish!. also peta has a vegetarian starter kit!. that might help too!. good luck :Www@FoodAQ@Com

I used to eat it and then I saw footage of what happens in slaughterhouses!. It made me wonder why I had the right to inflict this kind of suffering on animals!. I realized I didn't have that right, so I stopped eating meat and went vegan!.

Watch the movie "Earthlings"!. You'll never eat meat again!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why would you stop!? Where will you get your protein!? Chicken is poultry and probably the best besides fish for protein w/out the fat!. The real way to go is Ostrich or Buffalo since they're virtually fat-free!. You could get ur protein via bean, soy or eggs even yogurt!. But I truely feel a body needs the fibrous proteins to maintain muscle!. In woman particularly!. Strong muscles are what keeps bones from breaking down, among MANY other things!. I personally don't like beef-stuff or pork, but fish & chicken should be integral to ur diet!. If it's the treatment of the chickens that bothers you, just spend more for holistically-farm-raised ones!. Hope my input helps a little & Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm a Vegan so I try really hard not to eat any animal products!.
An innocent animal being slaughtered just so I can eat a cheeseburger is not appealing to me!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Humans need a balanced diet including meat!. There are various essential amino acids that humans cannot get from consuming grains, fruits, and vegetables alone!. A large part of what makes meat "unhealthy" is determined the cut of meat and how it is cooked!. Of course rotisserie chicken (without being heavily salted) is healthier than fried chicken, and sirloin is a better option than T-bone steak!. I personally think it's horrible when militant vegetarians/vegans force their beliefs on others by telling exaggerated horror stories of rotting meat, alleged animal abuse, or other tidbits taken out of context!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I eat meat on a daily basis!. I'm eating some right now!.
