i very rarely have soy - only use the mince subst cos my boyf isn't even veggie so likes it!.
Any recipe that normally has mince in it, use puy or green lentials, or black beans!.
or just use a bigger time of bean!. have at least 3 portions or rice (any type) and 3 portions of beans/legumes a week and you get all your protein needs!.
i can't help you with support as i have never liked eggs or cheese or animal milk so I have never been tempted and don't think it is difficult to give up!.
Here are a list of my meals i often cook:
Irish stew (with chestnuts or butter beans instead of meat, vegan stock and veggie suet for the dumplings)
5 bean chilli and rice
veggie curry, samosa, rice and lentil dahl
bean cassoulet with potato wedges (same recipe as bean and sos cassoulet but without the meat bits - desn't need cooking as long)
baked beans and baked potato
bean hash (like corned beef hash but kidney or other type of bean instead of the meat)
Stuffed portobello mushroom (with spiced rice or left over chilli or nut roast) with roast dinner (roast any veg you like)
Stuffed red pepper with chopped tomato, basil and sliced red onion)
Mushroom and leek pie
Mushroom, puy lentils and caramelised onion tartlets
ratatouille (also good in a large tart)
Home made spicy bean burgers
Falafel in pitta with salad and houmous
Pilaff
Veggie tagine
Spaghetti bolognese (with puy lentils)
Veggie pie (any veggies in a tomatoey sauce with mashed potato on top)
Pasta arrabiata
pasta primavera

That egg came out of a chicken's VAGINA!. Need I say more!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well, vegans do what they do for all the animals who DON'T have a good life!. And, they are in the majority!. If we all had a friend who had free-range chickens, it would be totally okay to eat eggs, but that's a rare thing!. Being vegan isn't as boring as you seem to think it is!. There are so many substitutes for the things you describe, and it's worth it, for the sake of the animals, to give it a try!. Very few things made of soy are tofu!. Many people don't like the consistency of tofu, but if you'd just Google "vegan", you'd find a lot of websites where you could order some really good substitutes for meat!. It's a bit pricey to be vegan, but, there's no waste (bones, skin, gristle, etc), and it's healthy, and there's no lack of protien!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The choice is up to you Nicola!. You've already done a lot by being a vegetarian!. There is killing involved in the egg and dairy industries, and the chickens that end up at any egg farm are all female!. Ever wonder what happens to the males!? Do the chickens at the farm come from a huge hatchery, or are they all incubated by the lady!? Do they do anything to the chickens to increase egg production, like starving them for a while (forced molting)!? And what happens to the hens when their egg production drops!? Are they always allowed access to the outside and cage-free!? If you can answer those questions at the farm where you say you got the eggs, and she takes good care of her chickens, I'd imagine that's probably the best way to get an egg if you have to eat it!. If there are also male chickens running around, the eggs may be fertilized though, and there may be chicks growing inside!. So get them fresh!. With what you said about that farm, at least you're not supporting caged or battery-caged chickens!. I can't imagine spending my whole life crammed into an elevator with a bunch of other people, maybe starved so I would give people what they want, and then killed because I wasn't giving them enough of what they wanted!. !.
I don't know of a good way to get milk without the killing and with minimal harm!. You'd have to know if the cow's baby is still able to feed, what happens to the baby if he's a male, what happens when the female no longer produces milk, how they're treated, whether they have room to live and graze, whether they're receiving proper care, etc!.
At least you give a crap about how they're treated!. Don't beat yourself up over it!. Nobody is perfect, and you've already done more that most people will do in your lifetime by giving up meat and trying to make the best choices you can!. Maybe try social networking hmm!? http://veganworld!.com/ I am sure lots of people have been through the same things!.
Try looking for recipes that are more satisfying for you!.!.!. maybe you'll find some new favorites, and you can cut back on the eggs without even realizing it!. Science is pretty crazy!.!.!. I wouldn't be surprised if we're eating eggs that don't even come from chickens and milk that doesn't even come from cows one day!. lol!. That doesn't sound too pleasant!. Then they'll have to come up with a new word for people who only eat animal products that come from machines without animals!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
