I am lactose intolerant. Substitute for dairy ?!
Is there any alternative to dairy because I feel sick when I take too much of it!. I tried Alpro soya milk but the after-taste is absolutely nasty!. Any suggestions!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I was going to suggest Alpro as that really is the nicest Soya milk out there (even if it does take a while to get used to that after taste)
But with that ruled out, have you tried other kinds of soya milk!?You might Like So Good for example!. How about Alpro chocolate or vanilla flavours!? They don't have that same after taste and they're delicious! (The only place I have seen them so far is Holland and Barrett)
There's also rice milk (I hear Rice Dream is the best), oat milk and coconut milk available from Holland and Barrett that you could try!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nut milk is much better than soy milk!. My personal favorite is almond milk, almonds are always available (although I do live in California, so substitute whatever you have) and I make it myself, it's much cheaper than buying it!. I use the bags from www!.rawglow!.com!. They are multi use bags you can use for sprouting as well!. Nuts are super healthy, so any nut milk is a good alternative!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Well being lactose intolerant i always have Soya Milk but i cannot stand the taste of Unsweetened soy so i always go for Sweetened Soy and drink a supermarket own brand you can always try Lacto Free milk Goats Milk Rice Milk or Oat Milk i tend to find that Rice or Oat milk can be a bit on the watery side other dairy products you can have are Soya Cheese it's made by alpro and doesn't taste all that good or there's goats cheese which has a creamy texture with a slightly sweet sharp acidic taste there's goats butter and soya & goats milk yoghurt's and dairy free soya ice cream if you look down the specialist food aisle of your local supermarket you'll find a range of dairy free products like powered cheese sauceWww@FoodAQ@Com
You only need milk for protein and calcium!. Otherwise, it is high in cholesterol, fat and sodium!. Make sure you eat foods that have protein and calcium!. (Almost everything has protein: Whole grains in breads and pastas, beans, nuts, soy products, vegetables!. Calcium: dark leafy greens, okra, broccoli, fortified soy products, even almonds have calcium!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com
I drink either lactaid milk or silk soy milk vanilla, they taste really good and both have the benefits of real milk!. Rice milk is another alternative but me it tastes like garbage!. You can also buy lactaid pills to take with the first bite of dairy, it helps ur body digest dairy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Oat milk is delicious!
Milks other that dairy do take some adjusting too, none taste just like cows milk, nor should they! But when you are used to one type of anything, an alternative will taste odd to you!.
I havent had cows milk in about 18 years but I can remember the taste and the thought of having it repulses me, I actually think I would vomit to drink a glass of cows milk! lol
Stick with soy or oat milk and you will quickly become adjusted to it :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lactaid is a brand of milk that my mom drinks!. its pretty good i guess!. They make ice cream out of it too so you can have that!. They also make lactaid pills you can take before you eat especially if your having cheese or milkWww@FoodAQ@Com
It takes a person some time to get used to a new taste and though soy milk was not love at first taste, I have now grown used to it and enjoy it!. Plus soy milk is far more healthy than dairy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'd advise rice or oat milk and not soya because soya products can contribute to kidney stones in susceptible people!.Rice dream have now brought out a vanilla flavour which I like using with my porridge!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I buy lactose-free milk, which is really good!. You pay a little extra, but of course, it's worth it!. And it tastes like normal milk, soy milk is!.!.!. revolting! Lol!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
