Vegetarian meals in the Hospital?!

Question: Vegetarian meals in the Hospital!?
I will be in the hospital over Christmas getting a hysterectomy and was wondering what kind of things besides jello and chicken broth they will serve me!. I know I'll be on a liquid diet for the first couple of days but I won't eat chicken broth or Jello--anyone have experience with this!?
What did you eat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
i feel for you!.
hospitals are the worst!.
they serve the most unhealthy and unethical food!.
my mom had a hysto last year!.
they gave her jello and nasty stuff!.
i had to fight with them and explain over and over what a veg can eat!.
i would tell you to tell a white lie and say you are allergic
good luck with your surgery!.

also ask someone if they can sneak food from home to you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most hospitals can accommodate a vegetarian nowadays!. They have vegetable broth instead of chicken, and your mom can have juice as well!. My tray had broth, juice, and hot tea on it the first day and that was all I wanted!. Just be sure to mention it to everyone involved, the people at check-in, the nurses at the nurses station on that floor, even the doctor!.

Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

When Missy was born we explained our diet to the hospital and they brought us jello and beef broth!. Ugh!.

Call ahead of time and ask them how they accommodate vegetarian diets!. Let them know that jello and meat broth are unacceptable and inform them of the alternatives!.

If they just don't get it you might have to have friends or relatives bring you food!. That's what we did!.

Best of luck to you!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

depends on the hospital you go to
if you tell them you are a vegetarian then that is what you will get
and every hospital is different
the best i ever went to was a 7th day adventist
the best food ever
and i had no idea i want eating meat!.
it is all in the mind
