Question about eating meat?!

Question: Question about eating meat!?
I have been a vegetarian from Sept!. 2006 until Dec!. 2008 and just ate meat yesterday, long story on why, because I am slowly going back to it!. Yesterday I ate nuggets from Chick Fil A and today had turkey deli!. I have not gotten sick, and was wondering if you think I will!.

I had a friend who was a vegetarian for 3 years and she said she was sick for a week!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everyone's body is different!. However, do not over do it on the meat!. Keep the portions small so that you do not induce a digestive problem that could result in unpleasant bodily functions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Probably not!. Now, if you ate a big wad of bacon, I bet you would, since your body isn't used to the animal fat!. Everyone is different!. Don't buy it when people say that you will or you won't (or that if you do, it's psychological)!.

As with any other food, if you don't eat it for a long time, it can affect you differently when you finally do eat it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You won't get sick!. That's just propaganda!. Your body creates enzymes for digestion on a case by case basis and it doesn't "forget" how to digest meat!. Any discomfort is a manifestation of guilt!. Guilt manifests itself as a stomach ache just like fear and anxiety can!.

I'd say if you had a tummy ache it'd be from the oil that the nugs were fried in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I haven't eaten red meat for 12 years and if I accidentally eat some, like broth or something!.!.!.I get an upset stomach!. Your stomach ache might be due to the quality of meat your chose!.!.!.!.Chick Fil A!?!?!?!? Stick with organic, less processed stuff if you are going back!.!.!.!.its better for your body, and the earth!Www@FoodAQ@Com

There should be no physiological reason for you to feel sick!. I find that after eating vegi for a while if I eat beef my system will back up as it is not used to the extra bulk waste from meat!. But that is the only affect I have!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, morally, I would feel sick because of the guilt!. I don't see any reason besides moral guilt why you would feel sick, unless indeed that the piece of chicken you ate had bacteria in it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think so!. I forgot what exactly!. I read something about it being good for a meat eater to be veggie but if VEGETARIAN ATE MEAT THERE WOULD BE SOME BAD SIDE EFFECTS!. (sorry i left caps lock on n didn't feel like re typing lol)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ignore the perosn who said you should feel guilty she is nothing but, an animal worshipper!.

There has not been a single controlled clinical trial that has produced any reduction in CHD mortality that can honestly be attributed to saturated fat restriction or cholesterol-lowering!?

-Long-term follow-up studies have shown that those with the lowest cholesterol levels tend to live the shortest lives!?

-So-called heart-healthy polyunsaturated vegetable oils have been linked to cancer and heart disease!?

-Cholesterol-lowering drugs have not been shown to provide any longevity benefit to women, the elderly, or high-risk men free of heart disease!?

-In Japan, where low-fat diets supposedly protect people from cardiovascular disease, it is actually those who eat the most saturated fat that have the lowest rates of stroke!?

-There is no clinical evidence that eating more whole-grains will reduce your risk of heart disease!?

-Vegetarians do not live longer than people eating a typical mixed diet!?

-Most of the information disseminated by health authorities today is designed not to protect your health, but to benefit vested financial interests!?

If you believe fresh red meat and saturated animal fats cause cancer, you have been brainwashed!. If you believe a vegetarian, high-fiber, organic diet of fruits, vegetables and whole grains does not cause cancer, you have been brainwashed!.

In the scientific literature, there are surprisingly few studies done on vegetarian longevity!. Russell Smith, PhD, in his massive review study on heart disease, showed that as animal product consumption increased among some study groups, death rates actually decreased! Such results were not obtained among vegetarian subjects!. For example, in a study published by Burr and Sweetnam in 1982, analysis of mortality data revealed that, although vegetarians had a slightly (!.11%) lower rate of heart disease than non-vegetarians, the all-cause death rate was much higher for vegetarians

Getting sick from going back to meat is psychological!. I ate shrimp 2 yrs ago (a year into being a vegetarian) and got pretty ill!. It was probably in my head, but I'm glad for that, I'll never eat meat again!

If you're going to start eating meat again, I'd start going to the doctor alot more!. You're cholesterol will go up and you'll probably gain weight!.

Why would you want to eat meat again anyway!? It's so much healthier and more environment friendly and you don't have to feel bad for contributing to the murder of some of the 660,000 animals that die for us to eat every single hour!.

And person above me (Jewely2951), you're body does not NEED meat!. If it needed meat, vegetarians wouldn't- on average- have longer lifespans than meat eaters!. Meat may have more protein but it also has more chemicals, cholesterol, fat, calories, etc!. than vegetarian foods!.
4 oz faux steak: Protein 17 g
4 oz meat steak: Protein 24 g!.!.!. that's not much of a difference if you ask me! : )

The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile accidents combined!. If beef is your idea of "real food for real people" you'd better live real close to a real good hospital!.
-- Neal Barnard, M!.D!.

Anyway, back to the asker of the question, haha, if you're going to start eating it again, you should take it slow and avoid really fatty meats for a while and ween yourself back onto it!. Your tummy could get upset, same as if you ate a bunch of sugar and weren't used to it!.

Hope that helped! Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well no you won't!. The whole getting sick thing is just physiological!. People convince themselves their body doesn't need meat (which it does btw, meat is the best source of protein, tofu is ok but not nearly as good) and so their body rejects it!. You weren't a vegetarian that long so you body still hasn't forgotten what it needs and/or wants!. You'll be fine, there's nothing wrong with eating a chicken patty!. In fact it's healthy!. :)

Hope this helped!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
