According to my mom...?!

Question: According to my mom!.!.!.!?
Im grounded until I eat meat!.
Do you think this is fair!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, this is not fair, but she may be trying to help you out!. Believe me, I was a vegetarian for a long time, and had many debates with my mother about my distaste for eating fish!. If your mother is concerned that you are not getting adequate nutrition, you should offer to go see a dietitian!. (Do not go see a "nutritionist!." This word has no meaning in the medical community!. You want to see a registered dietitian so you can be certain you are receiving sound medical advice!.) This way, the RD can talk to both you and your mom about your nutritional needs and how they can be met!. That way your mom can be satisfied that you are indeed feeding yourself healthfully, or, if not, you can both get some advice on how to improve your diet!. And letting your mother into your life choices this way may help the two of you communicate!. She'll better understand your choice, and you'll better understand her concerns, and hopefully everyone will be happy!.

Good luck to you, and try to remember she is probably just nervous that her baby (because you will always be her baby in her eyes) isn't being healthy!. Hope this helped!Www@FoodAQ@Com

ummmm that isnt fair!.
I'm guessing she believes that meat is the only way to keep you healthy and you think otherwise!. like me!.

You should confront her but not get mad!. try talking calmly through it!. MAybe say you could talk to your doctor!. also, print out information about the benefits of vegetarianism, and healthy vegetarin options!. make your research convincing and detailed!.

Maybe she will come around!.

I am a vegetarian and I have been for 5 years!.

As long as you eat pleanty of vegetables and get protein from soy and tofu and bean products, your mom should be fine with your decision!.

Maybe you can compromise for now and eat only chicken!. And then only fish!.
and so on!.

Good luck:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Parents are often unfair!.!.!.!.they do not respect their childrens beliefs or practices because they believe they know best!. Try to sit and talk to your mom in a calm, rational way about why she wants to force meat on you and why you do not want to eat meat!. You should first be prepared to back up other ways you can get iron and protein in your diet without eating meat, because she is probably concerned about you being healthy!. If she refuses to listen to you, or if she listens, but continues to insist you eat meat, then yes it's unfair!. But, again, parents are often unfair!. Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com
