How long without eating meat?!
I started feeling nauseated eating meat at the beginning of September!. I couldn't keep red meat or poultry down, so I gave it up entirely!. At Thanksgiving, I tried a couple of bites of turkey, and while it did remain in my stomach, I felt really nauseated all night!. Since then, I've continued to avoid all red meat and poultry!. Is it normal for someone to go only 3 months without meat and then have trouble digesting it!? I know some of my vegetarian-for-years friends who have tried meat again have been violently ill, but can it really happen that fast!? I'm kind of wondering if it could be psychosomatic, if because I know that at one point I COULDN'T eat meat, that now my brain is afraid to eat it!. I didn't intend to go vegetarian, but it looks like I don't have much of a choice now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
When you stop eating meat your body loses the enzymes to digest that kind of protein (complex protein)!. I don't know how long it takes for your body to completely lose these enzymes, but I would imagine that if you didn't eat meat for three months then you would have lost the enzymes by then!. If you want to start eating meat again you have to slowly build up these enzymes again!. You would need to introduce meat back into your diet in very small quantities!. I personally have been vegetarian for 18 years!. I would never go back to eating meat, because I do not like how it tases, I don't like eating animals, and I feel healthier by simply not eating meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Your liver no longer makes the enzymes needed to digest meat, since they are not needed!. It would take some time to adjust to eating meat again!. Since humans are omnivores, our livers remember how to make the enzymes needed to digest meat!.
I'd suggest you get yourself a vegetarian cookbook and get the Vegetarian Starter Kit from -

It ok, its perfectly normal!. I get it especially from pork!. There is a lot of gross things in meat for your body to digest, and of courses it goes through the process of rotting in your stomache!. If you are not eating it regularly it is a bit of a shock for your stomache!. If you start eating it again, I am sure it will go away!. I dont know how long that takes!.!.!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
