Answers:
yes!. you are still vegan!. it was an accident!.
what a shame for your family to lie to you like that!.
they should have more respect for your ethicsWww@FoodAQ@Com

The question is -- have you continued eating animal products, or did you immediately go back to eating vegan after that episode!?

Sometimes, if you are not vigilant, you may eat something that is not on your list of foods you want to eat!. If you find out, there is no reason to beat yourself up, but you should immediately return to the food plan/diet you have set for yourself!.

If you succumb to cravings, then go right back to what you say you want to do!. If you find yourself succumbing regularly to cravings, then, perhaps, you are not a vegetarian or a vegan, but a person who often eats non-animal product food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's funny that you label yourself!. It's okay - you don't need others to validate your choices for you!.
I work at a catering company and we have several chefs on staff!. One of the chefs is a vegetarian, but he has to try the food he makes (including meat)!. He's required to try his dishes, but everyone on staff agrees he's still a vegetarian!. I don't think he even swallows the food!.!.!.
It's late, I'm tired from studying for finals, but hopefully my little anecdote illustrated my point for you!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, first of all, you shouldn't freak out about it!. What's done is done, and now that you realize your mistake, you'll know not to do it again!.
And since it wasn't intentional, I believe that you are still a vegan!. Isn't Vegan a lifestyle and a set of beliefs, as well as a set of rules as to what a person eats!? So if you still stick to the lifestyle and beliefs of being a vegan, then you're fine!.
I say this again: Don't freak out!. It's not the end of the world!. =PWww@FoodAQ@Com

For goodness sakes, what's more important, to be called a "vegan" or doing what you can!? It was an accident, big deal!. "!.!. it doesn't count right!?" Count for what exactly!? Medals!? Brownie points!?

Something tells me you are in it for the "cool label" and do not really know (or care) what being a vegan means!.

Don't be foolish!. You are vegan because of your beliefs and the choices you make!. Not because of a personal purity or whether something accidentally ends up in your food!. There is no such thing as a pure vegan!. Live and learn!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It does count!. I have been a vegetarian sice four years old and if you eat a piece of animal then you broke it!. But just keep trying nad try not to eat it it will be hard to get used to it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, you're not!.
Why do these poor "vegetarians" and "vegans" feel the need to label themselves!? They're like those hormonal 13-year-olds who call themselves "emo" and "punk"!. It's kinda sad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I've accidentally eaten shrimp (after I ordered veggie egg rolls)!. I am still a vegetarian!.

You have to be diligent as a veg*n, but not paranoid!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

You could call yourself vegan any day that you don't eat animal byproducts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Accidents don't count!. Don't worry about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it was truly an accident, then that doesn't change anything!.

It is a lifestyle that you choose!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're obviously not dead so what's the difference!?
Www@FoodAQ@Com
