Can vegans eat gelatin?!
I'm vegan but I love marshmallows and want to eat them!. But, I know that gelatin (which is in marshmallows) is made from horse hooves!. Is it okay for vegans to eat products containing gelatin!? Thanks!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
No!. Gelatin in not vegetarian or vegan friendly - it's a slaughter by-product, and a veggie/vegan does not eat anything that kills an animal!. You can eat vegan marshmallows, avalible on-line!. An easier alternative is marshmallow fluff, which does not contain gelatin!. You can't roast it the same as marshmallows, but if you put it on chocolate, sandwich between graham crackers, wrap in foil and stick in the coals of the fire for a few minutes it tastes the same!.

The Marshmallow is a confection that, in its modern form, typically consists of sugar or corn syrup, water, gelatin that has been pre-softened in hot water, dextrose, and flavorings, whipped to a spongy consistency!.
