Answers:
1st of all!.!. Congrats on the Choice!! Ive been a vegetarian for almost 2 years, and i gotta tell ya, it is frustrating!. People are gonna say things like that regardless of if you are making a difference or not!. Alot of people just DONT UNDERSTAND why a person would choose to give up something like that!.

But what it all comes down to is a personal choice!. Who and why are you really doing this for!?
It may not seem like 1 person will make a difference, but the fact is, all of those "individual people who arent making a difference" add up to make a BIG difference!!

Somtimes i feel burdened by the fact that i care so much about the animals and the way they are treated, that i cant live a "normal" life, but in the end, i feel so much better about myself, and being able to educate people about my deciscion, may even make a real difference in the long run!

KEEP YOUR HEAD UP BABE!
There are always going to be people who dont aggree, understand, or like what you are doing, but youre the one living your life, right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Would you prefer that they lie to you just to boost your ego!?
They are just being brutally honest!. There are not enough vegetarians to make a discernible impact on the meat industry!. Remember that the population of the world is not static!. One person born to or converts to vegetarianism is replaced by 100 newborn omnivores!. And you are not even counting those who revert back to meat eating!.

Yes protesting KFC is idiotic because for one thing, KFC is not the culprit!. PETA just uses them because they think it gets better publicity!. But it's getting old and people are getting wise to PETA's antics!.

Problem with you is you bought into the pro vegetarian propaganda hook, line and sinker!. But be reasonable and think!. Do you seriously expect the meat industry to go " Oops, Sylfox4664 became a vegetarian!! Set free 10 chickens, 1 cow and 5 pigs so they may live happily ever after!!" Even some fairy tales don't go that far!.

Be satisfied that you don't contribute to the industry of slaughtering animals for food!. Beyond that, you are just setting yourself up for a lot of frustration!. Besides, accomplishemnts are for self satisfaction not for bragging rights!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you give $1 or £1 to a charity does that make a difference !?

If not, why don't we all stop giving!.

The truth is your reduced meat intake DOES make a difference as it forms part of a wider reduction in demand for meat!.

Vegetarians account for about 4% of the worlds population!. A reduction of 4% of animal deaths is measured in millions!. Regardless of what anyone else here says, that is an impact on the meat industry!.

And that does not include the meat reduction by those that choose veggie options occassionally in resturants!. Those food options only exist because people like you stick to your belief and say "I'll give you my money, but not for meat"

Of course it makes a difference!.

To be quite honest though, who cares what impact it has!. If you don't believe anaimals are food, don't eat them, regardless of what everyone else does!. If I was the only veggie and made no difference what so ever, i'd still remain veggie!. I personally am not going to be responsible for the death of animals for food, i see no need for it in the developed world!.

Its easy to say "it makes no difference", its a great way of people absolving themselves from thier actions - this is true in many topics, not just food!.

I don't see the point in protesting outside food outlets, i would prefer to go for positive education and let people make up their own minds!. I think that has a more sustained impact!. But its your choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Holy christ, you really protested against KFC!? Not one single person will listen to someone that crazy!.

You dont even know enough facts to say why you are a vegetarian, but you are out protesting!. That shows you are acting out of an irrational emotional need which I do not care to discover!.

I think the best argument against eating meat is economic!. The government subsidizes the price of meat and makes vegetables more expensive!. Environmental damage is done by animal farms (not much,) and cows fart a significant amount of greenhouse gas!. It takes less land to feed people with vegetables (ideally)!. Vegetarians suffer from less heart disease and diabetes!.

You are being unbelievably rude by protesting and pushing your view onto other people who disagree with it!. I am a muscular male and a vegetarian diet cannot provide the amount of protein I need!. I also do not wish to undergo the hormonal changes associated with a lack of meat!. For you to attempt to control my nutrition is wrong!. Growing boys and children need animal protein, which is vastly superior to vegetable protein!. You need about four grams of soy protein to get the usable ingredients in one gram of egg protein!.

Clearly, you make a difference by not eating animals!. Why would you be confused about that!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am a vegetarian!. I am for mostly health reasons, and the fact that it is not necessary to eat meat!. I lived in India with a traditional Hindu family, and came to see how friendly cows are!. : ) I don't think I could ever eat meat again if I tried!. I've been a vegetarian for almost fifteen years now, and I'm 18!.!.!.

KFC doesn't have to close, that doesn't matter!. You should be a vegetarian for your own self purposes, knowing that despite the fact that people say it will never make a difference, you still are!. And you can be an example!. You aren't the only one out there who doesn't eat meat!. I don't think it's right to tell people they shouldn't eat meat, it's natural, after all!. But awareness and knowing that there's an alternative is always nice!.

go vegetarians!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes you are making a difference!.

By becoming vegetarian, you are also helping the ecology!. Humans waste tons of resources like water, grains, and plants just to feed the animals that are going to killed and eaten!. And, we waste a lot of precious land we could be using for other reasons!. The land is used for raising crops (to feed the animals), to take care of the animals, and to hold the animal's waste!. The waste takes up a bunch of space and it SMELLS!. Not only that, when they clean the cows and stuff, the waste washes by to the area where people drink water!. That isn't healthy!. It can cause diseases!. And of course, animal rights is important!.

SO, vegetarians are making a difference!. It's to help our planet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes we can make a difference to begin with only a tiny amount of people believed in the world being round!.!.!. i think we all know who gets the last laugh here!. You should feel great that animals are not dying on your behalf and the amount of vegetarians is rising so i don't see how much longer companies like kfc can continue there monopoly on the world diet especially as the negative affects on the environment continue to be exposed!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi,

You might want to read this book, it offers some great diet tips, and then start to quote from it when someone says you will not make a difference!. Tell them how being diabetic you can lose your toes from lack of circulation in the feet, and become insulin resistant or die from kidney failure!. Tell them you don't want to die at 70, you want to live well into your retirement years and collect all the money that you put into the SS system, as well as what others put in who ate lousy meals and die at 55!.

Dr!. Barnard's program for reversing diabetes!.

It will offer great diet tips for a Vegan!. He says eliminating animal fats will prolong your healthy life if you are diabetic!.

Now that I am over 30, I really don't care about what others say about me, I just need to justify what I do to myself, not anyone else!. Back in high school, it might have mattered if you "looked the look" or whatever, but now I find it really does not matter!.

Best of luck to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"just tell them to F-off!. no, just kidding! tell them that you are vegetarian because you do not want to support how animals are treated, that's what meat-eaters do!. one fact I just learned is that the corn that is given to animals that are killed for food could be given to humans who are starving around the world!. you are also supporting that if you are a meat-eater"Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's okay to be a vegetarian or a vegan but it is NOT okay to rally out in front of everyone and tell them they're sick and wrong and cruel for eating meat!.
And one person does make a difference!. a !.000000000000000001% difference but that's just the way it is!. And animals will never stop becoming our food, that's the way the food chain works!.
If you want to be vegetarian then that's fine!. But don't hate on meat eaters!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

not really, especially when you consider that over 100 million animals are killed each year during the harvest of your vegetable crops you are actually contributing to the death of animals!.

btw, KFC buys their meat pre-killed and butchered, they have nothing to do with killing chickens so it's simply moronic for you to be protesting them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you don't need to quote facts in order to get some people off your back!. just tell them that you are one person adding to a big group of people and the more people that join, the more of a difference everyone is making!. im a vegetarian and although i am one person, i am working with so many other people (including yourself) to help make a difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes be a veggie! It is so good for you and I’m sure the cows will appreciate it! When people see that you can be a veggie then they may considerate it, and you create a domino effect! I have been one since I was 12 and in that time I have encouraged several people to cut back on meat! And it is no ones place to tell you your not making a difference because you are!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sorry friend, but you aren't going to get anywhere!. KFC is never going to close, ever!. No matter how many vegetarians there are in the world!.

If you chose to be a vegetarian to make a difference in the world, then you are doing it for all the wrong reasons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"Besides, accomplishemnts are for self satisfaction not for bragging rights!."

How are ethics even remotely similar to "accomplishemnts"!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

If u like u take otherwise leave!. All vegitarians and non-vegitarians have good health as well as bad health!.Anything within normal or limited quantity is good!. Don't be a voracious eater!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed individuals can change the world!. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

Oh you make a difference all right!. You turn more people off to vegetarianism than on to it by protesting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are making a difference!. Vegetarinism also reverses heart disease, so you will be VERY healthy to but!Www@FoodAQ@Com

the only dif is for you personally!.!.!.the animals will still be eaten just not by you!.!.!.and veg's die from heart attacks tooWww@FoodAQ@Com

They make a modest difference at bestWww@FoodAQ@Com

Wow, loved the name-calling in your answers!. You can see peoples' self-doubt so blatantly when they resort to that!.

The truth is, you are not making much of a difference as far as animal lives that you don't consume, but with a billion dollar industry, that can't be the motivation!. 10,000 vegetarians do make a dent, and that 10,000 is made up of individuals like you!.

Do you think people who opposed slavery when it was still common practice made a difference in the number of people enslaved!? No, probably not!. The difference they make is in a slow change of mind-set, in making other people think of about the ethics of their actions!. To change mainstream society, you have to be a part of a generalized movement!.

Now, having said that, when you put people on the defensive, they often do not listen to your message!. (As clearly demonstrated above!.) To make a difference, you must be confident in your own decision and let other people see that!. The difference you will make will be with those friends who doubt you because you respond confidently that you believe in what you are doing!. They will think twice when they get that response!.

There is no ethical system in which our meat industry is justified!.!.!.except if you choose to say it doesn't have to be!. And that is no response at all, just a refusal to think critically about an issue that concerns a pleasure and convenience they don't want to give up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
