Am I a being a hypocrite? Easy 10 Points!!?!
So I am a true vegetarian- not vegan! I have a pair of Uggs that I got a while before I became vegetarian!. I also have a sheepskin rug in my room!. I am asked all the time "why are you wearing uggs, liar"!. I got my uggs way before i was vegetarian but i still wear them-- why would I just throw out something that was killed! also I found the sheepskin rug in my basement that my parents were gunna get rid of, so I cleaned it up and reused it so it wasnt killed just to be tossed out!.

I still have leather shoes and boots before I was a vegetarian too!. I hold on to things for a long time!. You don't have to throw them away!. You can give the shoes and rugs away if you want!. Just try to find some vegan shoes instead!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I'm not quite sure if I would say hypocrite!. i wouldn't have them in my house as a vegetarian but I also wouldn't just throw them out!. i would donate them to a rescue for a yardsale or drop off at good will!. but i would not keep them!.
i think i would use hypocrite more for if you were saying you were a vegetarian and talking about animal rights and then turning around and buying animal products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I personally think that if you already own the item it is not hypocritical!. It is wasteful to throw them away, as you have already purchased them(which supports the industry)!.
As long as you are not buying anything else made of animals(after this point), then you are not being hypocritical!.
You could donate the rug and boots to a thrift store, but what is the point!. If you already paid the company than the deed is done!. You should not dwell over things you did before becoming vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's veganism that prohibits the use of leather, not vegetarianism!. Vegetarianism only applies to what you eat!. However, a lot of us elect not to buy leather or fur!. Good for you for not supporting the leather industry!.
You're not a hypocrite!.
You might as well keep using those things since you already own them!. It's not helping anybody to throw them away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as you don't eat your leather products your a vegetarian!. Vegetarianism is about not eating animals!. We can use animal byproducts if we choose to!. I have leather shoes, because they are better for my feet then synthetics!.
I'd suggest you give your speech on the humane treatment of animals!. Animal rights people would not use animal byproducts like leather!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it would be a waste to throw out those things!.!.!.
since you're not a vegan, it's ok!.!.!.
anyway, it's up to you to decide the extent to which to go!.!.!.
everyone has his own notion of vegetarianism, and the extent to which to practise it is a personal decision!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Uggs and vegetarianism are like apples and oranges!. Vegetarianism is a diet designation!. Don't eat you Uggs and you're good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I had a friend who converted to vegetarianism who kept his leather shoes until they wore out!. After that he did not buy any other leather products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't think your being a hypocrite!. I am neither vegan nor vegetarian!. As someone who has raised and eaten my own food, I feel the real shame would be waste!. Once the animal has been killed, wasting any part of it is wrong!. You eat the meat, tan the hide and as my Grandma used to say "bottle the squeal if you can catch it"!. NOTHING gets wasted!. Anything we couldn't eat directly was composted and used in the garden!. I know many take issue with killing animals for food but what is worse, killing something and getting full use of it or killing something and then letting some or all of it go to waste!. The animal already gave its life, honor that beast and do not cast aside its sacrifice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
No, you're not a hypocrite!. A hypocrite claims to have higher standards than s/he in fact has, or says one thing and does another!. If you preached to others about buying animal by products while secretly buying and using them yourself, that would be hypocrisy!. Being honest and open about what you do, as you have here, is the opposite of hypocrisy!.
Many, probably most, people who choose not to buy clothing etc made from animal by products wear or use those they already own at the time of their decision until they wear out and then replace them with items that are acceptable to them!. It isn't hypocrisy, it's a sensible and non-wasteful solution!. Quite apart from any other consideration, how many people can afford to replace all their shoes and some of their clothes and furnishings in one go!?
You haven't said what issues your speech deals with, or what views you will be expressing, so it's difficult to see how some people can judge you a hypocrite for giving it!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your original question isn't really that hypocritical, but then you added "I will buy some knit ugg boots," which is made from wool, which obviously comes from sheep!. Although the animal is not killed for the wool, to many vegans the animal is exploited!.
It's really not a big problem if you still wear your Uggs, but I recommend not buying from them in the future!. Faux-suede looks just as nice!.
And the sheepskin rug!? Talk about walking over animal's rights!.
But in the end, you're a vegetarian, right!? Not a vegan!. So technically you can still use and wear animal products!. Whether you do or don't is your choice!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yes you'd be a hypocrite!.
you don't want animals to be eaten but you're fine with them being drowned and electrocuted and skinned!?!?
O very fashionable indeed!.
Edit: why not donate the rug to goodwill or a thrift shop!.
and the uggs!.!. try to get a replacement soon!.
I am now vegan but I sadly only have one winter coat which has down in it! (I didn't know it was when I bought it) but I'm getting a new one for christmas w/o down or wool!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are not a vegan and you are giving a speech about animal rights you are a hypocrite!. Animals are still killed for your food, so I don't see how you can give a speech on animal rights!. If animals have any rights, they surely have the right to not be treated as inanimate objects and property!. By eating animal products you are perpetuating the view that non-human animals are just things, and that their "rights" should be weighed against human rights!.
Were you thinking of animal welfare!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
