Hi, I've been a vegetarian my entire life!. Overall, the key to being healthy is eating from the 5 food groups: fruits, nuts, grains, vegetables, legumes!. If a variety of foods are eaten from the five groups, basically all your nutritional needs will be taken care of!.
The way to gain/keep weight is to eat quite a bit from the nuts (fats, proteins) and legumes (fiber, protein)!. Foods like almonds, avocados, beans, tofu, olives, and others really are good for gaining or keeping weight!. Another thing that I cook with is extra virgin olive oil--it's healthy and can add a bit of fat to the diet!. Coconut oil is also said to be a very good source for some extra fat!. Some research says that if you're going to eat it, stay away from all animal products because it interacts with the cholesterol somehow and makes it harder for the body to get rid of it!. I'm almost totally vegan and I don't cook with dairy or eggs, but I would say to be careful and use those sparingly because all animal products have cholesterol!. also milk tends to seep calcium from bones rather than give calcium!. A good way to get calcium is green leafy veges, soy, or supplements!. Good luck on your endeavors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Make sure to eat a variety of foods, and eat enough food!. Anyone who eats salad at every meal and nothing else is not only going to lose weight, they're going to deprive themselves of good nutrition too!. Include grains, nuts & seeds, beans, vegetables and fruits!. You'll have no problems maintaining weight as long as you're eating enough calories!. Nuts, avocados, and other higher fat plant-based foods will add calories really fast because fat has more than twice the calories of carbohydrate or protein per gram!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You're going to want to stock up on protein!.

You can purchase supplements or eat foods with high protein levels!.
Fake veggie meat is full of good protein!. Peanut butter, nuts, and dried fruit are very good for Veggies!. You can eat lots of veggies and grains, and try to keeop som dairy in your diet!.

Make sure you take a small iron supplement as well, as your iron levels may get messed up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eat high protein foods like Salmon, cheese, tofu, eggs!. !. !. !. you may also want to take protein supplements for weight gain!. I would also encourage you to try different kinds of veggies and beans are a great source of protein and calcium!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
