Sorry, Sonny Jim: you're 16 and you're going to be moving out soon and no one in your family is vegan, so you'd better get used to cooking already!. I was making lunch for my dad when I was 4 years old!. Kids these days, honestly! :)
Anyway, I eat a variety of things!. The easiest way to have "fast" food available is to just cook in bulk!. I have chili in the freezer from last week!. All it took was a package of Spanish rice, a can of hot diced tomatoes and chilies, a big can of chili beans, some TVP (Textured Vegetable Protein!.!.!.this is optional), and some spices!. That's it!. I topped it with fresh cilantro and slices of avocado, plus more hot sauce, and I have a ready-made meal!.
Another dish I have in the freezer is a stir fry made with pan-fried tofu slices, stir fry vegetables, buckwheat noodles, and some sauce!. I top it with mung bean spouts and I'm ready to go!.
Other meals I typically make are:
Roasted veggies
Pasta primevera
Hash brown scrambles (no eggs, of course)
Sandwiches with hummus and mashed baked potatoes
Huge salads
Veggie wraps (either grilled or cold)
For breakfast, I'll have couscous with flax seed, nuts, and dried fruit!. If I'm on the go, I'll have a PB banana sandwich made with one slice of bread, 1/2 teaspoon of natural PB with added omega-3's (from flax), a whole banana, and cinnamon!. This is a great pre-workout snack!.
After my workouts, I typically consume a soy protein shake, but that's because I'm trying to build muscle!.
For snacks, I prefer veggies to fruit, so I typically have an assortment of raw veggies with hummus!.
It's not as hard as it may seem!. Just ensure you're getting a well-rounded nutrient profile and you're fine!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hey!! I'm 16 and I've been vegan for over a year!. Usually I just make something simple [rice, noodles, bread] and make a stir-fry or a salad, sometimes a soup!. You don't need fancy ingredients to make stuff taste good, just fresh garlic and onions [etc] and a variety of vegetables!. Start experimenting!. Or go to a friend's house [assuming you have vegan friends] and watch them how they prepare food!. Have your parents buy tofu or veggie-meat and always make sure there are fruits around!. If you need a cookbook, I think Isa Chandra Moskowitz has some pretty good stuff!. I think you should also ask your docotor about taking supplements, stuff like B12 and Omega 3 [although Omega 3 can be found in flax seeds]!.
If you're looking for food at a store, just read the labels carefully, there's some stuff that's not very obvious [whey is a milk product], so do some research on Wikipedia!. There's also stuff like "natural flavour" and you would have no idea if it came from an animal or not, so use your best judgement!. Practice reading the labels now and try to remember which ones are vegan, you probably won't have time to read everything when you are starving!. Best of luck in the new year!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

That really depends!. Are you going completely vegan!? I am ovo-pescetarian vegan, meaning I am lactose intolerant and vegetarian with the exception of eggs and fish!. But I have many family members that are completely vegan!.
We like to buy veggie burgers, but only certain brands like Boca and Amy's have certain vegan variations!. You don't even have to cook them, just microwave for like a minute and a half!. To get your protein, add granola and nuts to your soy yogurt!. Whole Foods and Trader Joe's and all the other organic food stores sell Tofurky, soy cheese, and other vegan sandwich fillings that I use for my lunch sometimes!. If you like salad dressing, they have some variations without milk or cream or you could just use oil and vinegar!. Whole Foods even has a vegan section in some stores nationwide where you can buy a huge variety of soy ice cream, sorbet, Lactaid milk, vegannaise, etc!. Check it out, seriously!. It's like a vegan's Heaven!. lol!. Good luck!. I think there's a cook book called "How It All Vegan" and it's written by these two vegan ladies and it's got some pretty good stuff!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Is there a specific reason why you are converting to veganism!? Or do you just think it's cool!? Vegans don't eat animal products or by products of animals such as milk, cheese, yogurt etc!. You might have a hard time eating seperately from your family, especially if you don't know much about it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
