A question about animal suffering.?!

Question: A question about animal suffering!.!?
This is probably in the wrong category but I need some advice!. I work at a small hotel in the woods and we have a mouse problem in our kitchen!. My boss put some sticky traps (which I think are very inhumane) in the kitchen and 2 of them have a mouse on them!. The are still alive, have been there for hours and are struggling!. I did not put them out, nor am I allowed to remove them but I don't want the mice to suffer!. Is there any way I can release them or help them!? I can hear them making noises and the are in obvious distress!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
i hate glue traps!.
can you ask your boss to but humane traps and offer to take let the mice go after they are caught!.
i once bought my own humane traps in my old job and they let me use them!.

whenever i see glue traps i fold them in half and step on them so no one gets caught in them!.

if you can get to the 2 that are on the traps, you can get them off by putting cooking oil or lotion on their trapped fur!.

poor mice!
good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well ask your boss first!. Then take a shoe box and scoop under the trap bringing the mouse/mice with it!. Then either kill them or put them in your car and drive about 20 miles or so away from the hotel!. Them take another piece of card board and scoop the mice, with the traps, onto the ground!. Then take that same piece of card board and, holding down the paper, push the off!. If all the traps are filled and you only want to make one trip, then give the mice some food then stick them in the card board bow, get the others and do what I said!. If your boss says no, get them out of the kitchen and take your lunch break and bring the mice with you!.

Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would suggest you get a pet cat and that should take care of the future problems!.

For the mice on the glue trap I would put them in a pail of water to drown them!. Trap and all should be disposed of for health reasons!.

This is the most humane way to kill an animal and to keep it from suffering!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Smack them with something to put them out of their misery!. Don't touch them, mice can be rabid or even carry plague virus!. Your boss should be using a more humane trap!. He also needs to get a carpenter over to figure out where these animals are getting in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Get some solvent to remove the glue and after that get some humane traps, ultimate solution is of course don't leave food out (the mice will move on) and properly mouse proof the place! Humane traps capture the mice live!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Everyone has to have pest control for hygeine reasons!. If you intend to to eradicate the pest, then a swift end is what is required otherwise it is pure cruelty!.
I often wonder if humans aren't the real pests!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you do not want the mice to suffer then kill them and put them out of their misery!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, it appears we have conflicting issues here

Pest management/sanitation practices vs!. morality/suffering!.

Either way, most traps are intended to kill (quick/slow, either way they are meant to remove/kill the problem) Since you are in a area that uses food often, poison/bait traps are not an option unless special units are ordered/used!.

The glue boards are effective at what they do, as they animal usually dies of exhaustion, lack of water or air!. The only thing that would essentially reduce the amount of suffering would be to push their body/head deeper into the pad, resulting in lack of oxygen and a faster death!.

Rodents are serious health hazards, they cause damage, eat/ruin food, and can spread disease!. If you are really having problems with this method of control, talk to your manager/boss to either

1) talk to a pest control operator and see if they can use place chemical baits for the problem!. (DO NOT DO THIS YOURSELF, retail baits are different than those used by the operators in most cases)!.

2) Ask to be moved into a different location of the hotel where you spend minimal time in/near the kitchen!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Good Lord, they're mice!. Smash their head with the heel of your foot!. I'm sure the vermin population of the world won't suffer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

knock them in the head!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
