Ok so I'm 14 years old and really want to become a Vegan!. However since I will be the only one in my family who is it would be a lot of money to become a vegan i think!. So If my mom says no to me being a vegan i will just be a vegetarian!. see I was a vegetarian in 6th grade and passed out due to not having enough protein in my diet!. So if I was your daughter how would you like me to tell you!? any tips of convincing her to let me become a vegan!?

Do some reading and self-educating, so you understand what you need to eat in order to be healthy!. You're a growing young woman, and your parents will likely be concerned about your health!. There's a lot of myths about diet, and it's common for people to think that if you don't eat meat you'll get sick!.

Here's a great book to start with, covering all the basics of vegetarian nutrition!. Get it from a local bookstore or your library:
http://www!.amazon!.com/New-Becoming-Veget!.!.!.

also, since you'll be needing to eat some different dishes from the rest of the family, take responsibility for your choice and start learning to cook for yourself, instead of making extra work for your mother!. Cooking a nice vegetarian side dish for the whole family to go with every meal might go over nicely!. You can also help your mom with the shopping, which will let you pick out some things you want for yourself, like extra fruits & vegetables, brown rice, tofu, sauces, and so on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ok, Well I'm 16 and a vegetarian, I'm the only veggie in my family as well!.!.!.at first my mom didn't like the idea because she was worried about me getting protein!.!.But now shes actually happy for me, because there are a lot of ways to get protein!.

Here are some foods that give you protein as a vegetarian :

Nuts!.
Tofu!.
Peanut butter!.
Beans!.
Veggies!.
Eggs!.
&& more, Just look it up!.!.the internet has a lot of info!.

But as for the vegan part, I think it would be pretty much the same but just minus the eggs & milk!.!.she shouldn't be mad as long as you let her know that u have ways to be healthy!.!.!.As for the part that it will cost money, Well it actually wouldn't be that bad, It's just the same as a person wanting to eat healthy!.!.veggies & fruit, But of course you wouldn't want real milk or any of that stuff, if she really wants to help you and respect you as a vegan or vegetarian!.!.then I'm sure she will help you out!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There's a fantastic book on veganism called Skinny B*tch!. See if you can get this, and get her to read it!. It gives you loads of info on having a really healthy diet and is very motivational and inspiring! I don't know how you managed to faint as a vegetarian!.!.!. have you had your blood sugar and blood pressure levels checked out by a doctor!? I can't imagine that a vegetarian diet alone would cause this as I have been meat-free for 15 years with no problems!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are only 14, don't make such a huge decision at such a young age!
Vegetarians think themselves noble, but they're the only ones - the rest of us think they are a pain-in-the-whosis! Trust me on this!

Sorry, veggie-only people, but this is truly how most of the rest of us think!. I know you don't like to hear it, but it is what it is!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't become one! It will make you be a social outcast! Can't ever go out for supper or go to someone's house for dinner!. Become a vegitarian, not vegan! It will drive you crazy!
Can't eat most bread, baking, even!. Milk or egg products are in everything!Www@FoodAQ@Com

mom can i become a vegan i think it is mean to eat animals please can i be a vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

JUST SIMPLY WRITE A MESSAGE ON A PAPER!.!.!.!. AND PLACE IT ON YOURS MOM'S BEDWww@FoodAQ@Com

((I can guarantee you that you did not pass out from a lack of protein!. So many problems develop before a protein deficiency, and the only cases of protein deficiency to happen in the U!.S are in the very ill(chronic), very elderly, abused (starved) children, and people with extreme eating disorders!.))

I'm a vegan and I spend way less on groceries then my friends- think about how much money people spend at the deli counter! A can of black beans is 75 cents, dried beans and legumes are much much cheaper than canned, and tofu can be bought for dirt cheap!. You need to do some research and offer to go grocery shopping with your mom so you can take some of the pressure off her!.!.!.that's what I did at your age!.

Why do you want to go vegan!? Is it for the animals!? If your mother knows you are an animal lover and a compassionate person, it shouldn't shock her too much!. Just make sure to remind her it isn't about judging other people but about doing as little harm as *you* can!.
Do you cook!? Offer to make a healthy vegan dinner once a week for the family!.!.
Good luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You do not provide enough information here!.

Since the incident when you passed out in the 6th grade from lack of protein have you done all the studying you need to become a successful vegetarian or vegan!? Have you learned how to food combine and have you charted how much protein you need per meal each day!? Are you aware that snacks need to be incorporated whether or not you go meatless!?

At your age nothing is fully formed in your body and how you treat it is key to your health for the rest of your life!. You can successfully switch to veaganism or vegetarianism but you have to know how to do it for each stage of your life!.

A doctors visit is in order to start you out so you won't fail at this!. A certified nutritionist would help you immensely as well!.

also, it will be less, not more, expensive to eat in your chosen way!.

The way to tell your Mom that you want to do this is to present your case maturely with sound reasoning, information to back it up, the plan you have for yourself and why it is important to you personally!.

You are making a good healthy choice for yourself but if you don't do it right it will backfire on you with potentially lasting consequences!.

Best of success with this and all your life's decisions!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
