I do not eat raw apricot kernels, but I do use the apricot kernel oil!. It a slightly sweet with a definite peach/apricot aftertaste to it!. I like to mix it with raspberry blush vinegar for my salad dressing!.

I would not recommend eating the apricot kernels (and yes they do contain cyanide) because of the insoluble fiber that your body will have a hard time trying to digest!. And if it can not get to the nutrients you seek, then your body doesn't absorb anything!.

If the nutrients that you seek are water soluble (as oppose to oil/fat/lipid soluble that you can get from the oil), then I would suggest an infusion of tea!. Steep in almost boiling water for 20 minutes or so, and then drink (though cyanide will be in there since it is water soluble)!.

Cyanide kills all cells - kind of like chemotherapy that is not targeted (while chemotherapy is becoming more and more precise in targeting the diseased cells))!. It kills by binding with any mineral in your body that it comes in contact with, thus forming a cyanided compound that the body can not process!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't eat them at all; they are dangerous as they contain cyanide!. I don't know why you're planning to eat them, but if it's because you've heard of their alledged anti-cancer properties save yourself time, money and a not very pleasant eating experience!.

Apricot kernels are one of the few 'alternative' cancer treatments to have undergone clinical trials!. Repeatedly they have been demonstrated to to be completely ineffective in either preventing or treating cancer!.

The commercial version, Laetrile, is widely sold and is a complete scam, exploiting the the desperation and misery of vulnerable people!. It is some times referred to as 'Vitamin B17'; this vitamin is non-existent and was invented by the makers of Laetrile to give their product respectability!.
