Addressing the colon cancer claim: It should be mentioned that the consumption of fiber negates the colon cancer risk!. There is only cancer risk if too much meat is consumed and not enough fiber to help remove waste!.
Carcinogens involved in grilling and scorching meats are also rendered harmless and are removed from the body simply by eating fruits and vegetables!.
Meat risks also include cholesterol which if over-consumed can lead to blocked arteries!.
Many meats have little or no risk such as boneless/skinless chicken breast, pork loin or whitefish!. The key, as with everything, is moderation!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just to put the record straight on a few claims here!.
Meat does not cause colorectal cancers!. A diet high in red and processed meats is a risk factor for colorectal cancer!. A risk factor is not the same as a cause - insurance companies regard 'being male' as a risk factor for car crashes, but being male doesn't actually cause car crashes!.
As for other cancers the known or suspected links between meat and the 200+ diseases that come under the umbrella title of cancer are these:
A diet high in meat and fat may increase the risk of pancreatic cancer!. A diet high in red and processed meats is thought to possibly increase the risk of stomach cancer!.
That's it!.
And eating meat does not increase the risk of diabetes!. Diabetes is NOT caused by diet!.
I'm vegan myself (and I have diabetes and I have had cancer), but I feel very strongly about misinformation about disease!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Food poisoning, if it is not cooked correctly!.
The only real risks are related to contaminated meat, but this is a very rare occurence, and if bought from a reputable butcher or supplier, should never be a problem!.
The only other issue is that excessive meat consumption causes flatulence and obesity!.
Eat a balanced diet with the correct mix of vegetables, meat and carbohydrates, and you can't go wrong!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

One of many risks is the poor preparation and cooking of certain meats!. Chicken if not cooked to the certain temperature, may contain salmonella!. Which may lead to streptococcus!. In addition to strep throat, certain Streptococcus species are responsible for many cases of meningitis, bacterial pneumonia, endocarditis, erysipelas and necrotizing fasciitis (the 'flesh-eating' bacterial infections)!.
also, the scare of bird flu and mad cow disease is non-existent in a vegetarian or vegan diet!. Many sources believe that the hormones injected into the animals during the time they are being raised can be transferred to humans at the time of consumption!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
