Vegetarians!!..How do I?????????!


Question: Vegetarians!!!.!.How do I!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?
I have been a vegetarian ever sense the day after thanksgiving, It's actually a weird story of why it was after thanksgiving, haha!.!.But anyways I stay to my veggie diet but I seem to get bad cravings for candy and unhealthy stuff (It's worse at night), I'm not overweight & I'm actually in good shape!.!.But I'm afraid of getting out of shape if I can't find a way to control myself!.!.!.My mom says its because I'm lacking something but I eat my protein and everything I need, At least I'm 99% sure I do!.!.heh!.!.So What I'm asking is, Who else has or had this problem and what did you do to control it!?!.!.!.&& just to let everyone know, I don't eat stuff that's off limits as far as being a vegetarian goes, I just crave the sweet stuff that I know I can have, && It's really bothering me!.

Are you just eating the non meat items and leaving out the protein!? If you cut something out of your diet, you need to substitute it for something that has the same nutritional value!. If that is the case, your mom might be right!. However, if you are doing what you need to do, then you just miss junk food a little!. Junk food has mostly empty calories and almost no nutritional value, so I doubt that your body is craving it to replace something you are lacking!.

I also don't keep it in the house, so it's easier not to see it and want it!.
When I find that I want junk, I eat fruits or drink oj!. Fruit leather is neat cause you can have fruit and feel like you are eating candy!. You just might be craving junk food cause you are used to having it!. It is prob worse at night because you've tried not to eat junk all day and the draw to eat it stronger!. You can eat some snack food in moderation just eat the right stuff!. Try some baked chips and salsa, whole wheat crackers, popcorn with molly mc butter sprinkles, juicy watermellon, etc!.

You can do this!. Just network with others! Good luck!.

Try eating more smaller meals or lots of fruit, veggies, etc in between meals!.

i have this problem a lot and it is just because you are just starting out, after a few months once it becomes a habit you it will be easier!. also you might be having cravings for meat, this is just normal!. If you eat just a little bit of candy that is ok as long as you exercise!. It's not because your body is lacking something, its because your a girl and girls get cravings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I first went vegetarian I craved sweets also!. I've heard others do too!. I just made sure I wasn't replacing the meat with junk food and sweets!. Instead I ate beans, soy meat, and other foods that are nutritionally the same as meat!. Try not to eat a whole lot of processed foods either!. The cravings stop before you even notice it!. If you think it's a deficiency, try fortified cereals or milk or even supplements!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think everyone craves sweet things!. I don't think it's to do with being vegetarian!. Can you try to eat healthy sweet stuff instead of going straight for the candy!? This sounds odd but I found that mashing banana stops me wanting chocolate!.

As far as controlling it goes!. Can you wait an hour after you start to really want something and then if you still want it then let yourself!. Chances are you'll forget about it after a while!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That's so freaky, I became a vegetarian a few days after thanksgiving too!. Only, that was 5 years ago!. hehe!. Anyway, I completely understand your dilemma!. Most vegetarians can still eat chocolates and sweets!. I use to have a terrible diet, but I've gotten better!.

If you crave sweet stuff all the time!. Just find foods that are naturally sweet!. Most fruits like apples and watermelons are sweet!. Try fruit juices to hold you over!. Just think, you'll become healthier and your teeth won't fall out!. haha!. Good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

Breaking food addictions is difficult!. If your body is craving candy, replace it with something good for you!. I would suggest a green drink!. They are very satisfying, and give your body the nutrients it might be longing for!.
I would suggest that if you fill your body with good foods, your craving for junk will dissipate very quickly!.

i have the same problem!. but i give in to my cravings and its catching up with me :) i have thought the same thing, that its because im missing something that i would get from meat, but when i think about eating meat [even though i never will] it is unappealing, so how can that be it!? i wont be much help to you because i dont know how to control my cravings, lol!. i was thinking about looking into a hypnotherapist for it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need real protein that only comes from eating meat!. If we were'nt suppose to eat meat then why do I salivate at the smell of a steak on a grill!. If you cooked dog poop I wouldn't salivate!. My point is that we innately want to eat meat!. It's a healthy part of the human diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sometimes when I want something sweet I just suck on a jawbreaker or something, it's not as fattening as eating the whole tin of shortbread, and it lasts awhile!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The food industry has us all hocked on sweets!. Your diet change has triggered your sweet cravings!. The best bet is to eat healthy sweets like fruit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why not try fruit to satisfy your sweet cravings!? I doubt being a vegetarian has much to do with it, though!. If you're at a healthy weight, a snack now & then won't hurt!.

I was a vegetarian for many years and went back to eating meat when I married a pure carnivore!. Within 6 months, I had high blood pressure, put on weight, and suffered a heart attack!. Needless to say, I'm off meat again, lost the weight and am enjoying good health!.

I have had this problem bfr and believe me its not easy to solve!. Well plan your diet carefully!. Since your really wanting some sweet stuff set a limit for yourself for example only 48g of chocolate per week or only 2 glasses of wine per week!. This is one of the ways i solved my problems!. Another step is to keep your self occupied!. If you are in the US there are tonnes of things for you to do!. Join clubs or youth organizations!. Get involved so that you are not persuaded to give in by your demons!. Next step is to have a free-day in your week!. For example my free day is Saturday!. The whole week i have to stick to my diet except Saturday and on Saturday i Can Eat whatever I want!. At the beginning have 3 free days then less it down to one and eventually you will be ok!. Another step is to be mentally strong!. Be free to say NO I DONT WANT TO EAT WHAT I SHOULD NOT!!. It helps!. Everytime when you cant control yourself and reach for the nearest Snickers or beef jerky, Say it loud!. Get your family members to help to or you can even get a lock for your fridge!. Haha!. There could be a few reasons for your cravings!. Nutritionists believe that most food cravings are based on some sort of vitamin deficiency, which sounds like what your mom suggested!. If you don't currently, try to start taking a multivitamin (like Centrum, One-A-Day, even Flintstones if you want haha) and see if that clears your cravings up!. Secondly, I heard somewhere that it takes 30 days for sugar to leave your system!.!.!.!.if you've only been on a vegetarian eating plan since Thanksgiving, it's possible that it's not all out yet and sugar/salt breed future cravings for that stuff!. Last but not least -- and this seems like a no-brainer, but have you tried fruit!? A good piece of fresh fruit can definitely satisfy your sweet tooth, and help you get some extra nutrition in too!. I stuff as much healthy stuff that's packed with carbohydrates and and fiber into me as possible!. Most people don't know this, but living off Fiber and Carbohydrates will keep you thin!. Anyways as long as I eat things packed with either carbs or fiber, I eat what I want!! Carbs/Fiber infected foods are packed with Vitamins too!. You don't see any carbs or fiber in meat do you!? That's why most meat eaters are overweight and NO TRUE Vegans are fat!. More than half of America's adults are obese, none of them Vegan!. It's impossible to be a true long term Vegan and be Overweight!.

If you just eat lots of foods with Carbohydrates and Fiber in them you'll eat less and be a LOT fuller!.

Oh and once again Angie makes a retard of her self!! Candy has CANE SUGAR IN IT!! Cane Sugar is a refined sugar processed through a charcoal filter, and charcoal is constructed of animal bone!. Another obvious is sugar creates cravings!. Do you think you can occasionally eat a Twix, or something, and not want more!?
