Answers:
The FDA won't admit that they cause any harm but most European countries won't sell it!. I think the meat lobbyists are running the show in this country!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
in the book SKINNY *****, there is a ton of stuff about eating healthy and dissing the meat industry!. The types of hormones they use induce growth in animals, so they make you grow also whenever you ingest these!. The thousands of unregulated hormones put into pigs, cows, and chickens can cause pretty much everything from diabetes, cancer, early puberty, infertility and more!.
This book inspired me to become give up fish and to pursue veganism!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) current approves of five different types of hormones used in food production!. Of these, testosterone and progesterone are produced naturally by the animals and zeranol and trenbolone acetate are synthetically made!.
These hormones are approved for use only in cattle and sheep!. Poultry, such as chickens and turkeys, and pigs do not gain much weight when given these hormones, so they are not given them!. Most of these hormones are given to the animal by inserting a pellet under the skin of the ear!. The pellet releases the hormone and the ears of the animals are thrown away during slaughtered!.
The concern of scientist and consumers both is that traces of the hormones and chemicals will remain in the meat and pose a potential hazard to humans who consume it!. Have you noticed that girls today seem to be reaching puberty at a younger age!? It is suspected that this may be due to the steroids found in today's meat!.
Unfortunately, studies done on the potentially harmful ingredients in meat have proved inconclusive and further studies are needed!. One problem when conducting a study is that the animals produce some of the hormones naturally, therefore making it hard to determine how much is natural versus the pellet hormones!.
also, the level of hormones produced naturally varies from animal to animal, another hurdle for researchers to overcome!. The concern with nitrates, used to cure meats and give them a pink or red color, is that they can be converted into nitrosamines!.
Nitrosamines are believed to both cause and promote cancer!. However, the FDA has no studies that decisively finds nitrates used in meats harmful, therefore continue to allow them to be used in processed foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

well just because there isn't any evidence that hormones do affect your health, it doesn't mean that they've actually studied its effects on humans!. Doing those kinds of studies require money which I'm sure the cattle industry, beef industry, or even the government would put up!. And PETA is more into the treatment of animals and not health related issues!. If you want to play it safe, avoid it completely!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I have read a lot of before and after vegan and raw vegan testimonials, many people said they felt happier!. So yes I think it does have an affect!. Hormones are naturally found in milk, since poor cows are abused, their milk probably has more hormones due to stress!. Same with animals killed for meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
There is no scientific proof that hormones do anything at all!. The peta pushers just use that because when we think hormones we think that must be bad, when there is NO evidence to suggest hormones do anything negative!.
Soy has estrogen in it, estrogen is a hormone, so logically if you think the hormones in meat are bad for you then so must the hormones in your soy, right!?
Jay, if you think about it peta is just as concerned with diet as they are with animals, because the two are the same!. They strongly encourage a vegan lifestyle because then no animals would be killed, it is in their agendas best interest to misinform and lie, which is evident when they fight for 2 years in court to keep their kill rates from being released to the public!. Visit petakillsanimals!.com to see these official government documents that they were eventually forced to release!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As Patricia said, most European countries won't allow it!. I recall reading a BBC article linking the beef hormones with the fact that girls are starting puberty earlier and earlier!. Your best bet would be to do some research on articles written outside of the US!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
