Vegan Sugar? Natural Milled? I'm very confused?!
So, I know that they use bone char in the refining process or whatever for cane sugar!. Does natural milled cane sugar not use bone char!? If not, what about organic cane sugar!? Is brown sugar cane sugar, and what about brown sugar syrup!? Please help me I want to become vegan, but I'm kinda confused on what I can and can't eat!. Thanks!Www@FoodAQ@Com

artificial sweeteners are garbage and they were developed with the use of extensive animal testing!.
It's my understanding that all organic sugar in the U!.S!. is produced without the use of bone char!. Brown sugar is just white sugar with molasses added, and may have been produced using bone char!. The raw sugars that are brown in color have gone through some refining, but probably have not gone through bone char filters, because that whitens it!.
Some sugar companies do not use bone char filters at all!. You can contact the companies to ask!. I only buy non bone char sugar when i'm buying sugar!. But I don't worry about it in goods that are already made!. It's not practical or possible to track down the source of every ingredient in every food you use, and it really isn't a big deal because it creates no additional demand for an animal product, is not actually in the sugar, and there are other ways to process sugar available!. I just prefer to buy non bone char when I'm making things at home!.
Here's a very interesting article to read on bone char-- http://www!.vrg!.org/journal/vj2007issue4/!.!.!.
Another great sweetener for use in tea or as a honey substitute is agave nectar!. It's good!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
