Vegetarians/vegans: am i a complete hypocrite?!

Question: Vegetarians/vegans: am i a complete hypocrite!?
im a vegetarian, bordering on vegan !. i eat no meat not gelatin nor shortening!. i hate dairy!. the few things i tolerate are cheeses but even lately the thought makes me puke, i dont purposley buy leather (am i the only one who doesnt find that smell appealing!?!?!?)

i try not to promote anything that harms animals but in all honostly it costs too much to be 100% vegan its very hard/inconvenient to find products and lets face it, the economy slips some sort of animal product in so much i dont think its even possible that hard core vegans are 100% vegan all the time (fyi refined sugars are refined by bones so that right there sums up how you could be blind to many common items)!.!.

i try!.

am i a hypocrite!?!? :]

also anyone know of a company that makes GOOD veggie cheese and deli "meats"!.!?!?!. i eat lots of veg items but i have not had a "cheese" or "sliced meat" that doesnt make me as nauseated as the real thing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
No, you're not a hypocrite!.

Yes, most vegans are aware of bone char filtering!.

If you're worried about hidden animal products, avoid processed junk, buy whole foods and cook!.!.

The best vegan cheese I have found is Dr!. Cow!. You can order it from Pangea!. (http://www!.veganstore!.com/)
Rice Slices aren't bad, and they melt well!.

The best deli meat I have found is Field Roast Deli Slices!. (Available at natural markets)Www@FoodAQ@Com

No you're not ! At the contrary ! You already do a LOT for animals ! I know that you'd like to be totally vegan but unfortunately that is almost impossible by now!. Well, very difficult!. Try to be as vegan as you can but don't think yourself as a hypocryte, you're certainly not, if you were, then we're almost all hypocrytes!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't believe that you are a hypocrite, but that could be because I am in the same boat as you!.

You can try Tofurky brand deli slices!. They have many different flavors like smoked and peppered!. Veggie cheese slices are good, too!.

Good Luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

no, you are not a hypocrite!. you seem to be doing your best!.
yeah and tofurkey slices and field roast slices are yummy
good cheese is hard to come by, but i make my bf's kids pizza with follow your heart mozz and jack cheese and they can't tell the difference!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You don't have to be a strict vegan to do something for your beliefs!. Vegan is just another label or fancy term!. So just do whats best for you and be proud you are at least doing something to help animals :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is near impossible to be 100% vegan!. I try to do as much as possible without harming myself or others to live a vegan life!. I don't think you're a hypocrite!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

you're no hypocrite!.veganism is very hard to follow,

we like Morning Star or Veggie Patch products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Trader Joe's used to sell a very good soy cheese, but I don't remember the brand name!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, you're not a hypocrite!. Don't be too hard on yourself!. The fact that you are making a huge effort to not contribute to animals being killed and your passion for trying not to use animal byproducts is certainly commendable!.

Just try your hardest!. That's all the animals would ask of us!. :-)

For the cheese and deli meat, I'm at a loss!. I've tried quite a few and wouldn't recommend any!. I tolerate them when I'm just hankering for a sammie, but I don't go out of my way to buy what's available in my neck of the woods (Ohio) which I'm sure is slim pickings anyway!. lol!. (Not a lot of us here)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Cheese is a hard addiction to break, but once you do, you won't even crave it!. I haven't found a good vegan cheese but then i haven't had cheese in so long that it doesn't even sound all that appealing!.

As for it being expensive to be vegan, I will have to differ there!. I don't spend that much on food (certainly no more than when i was omnivore, especially when you don't eat out so much) and you can save money by buying things like rice, beans, lentils, veggies, etc in bulk and make large quantities of soups and pastas at one time to eat from all week!. You just have to be careful where you shop!.

Health food stores often over charge for basics, so buy your basic foods at a normal grocery and only use health food places for hard to find items like nutritional yeast and the variety of vegan meats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
