I had a vegetarian meal from my school canteen today and it had meat in it, how wrong is this?!
i was personally disgusted, i complained to the dinner lady who just threw it in the bin so i am considering speaking to my headteacher!. are there any laws that say it is illegal to advertise something as vegetarian (in this case a 'pepper' pasta sauce, clearly labelled the vegetarian option) or to not have a vegetarian option!. what do you think i should do about it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is so so wrong, I would definately speak your head teacher!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
This happens a lot, you always have to inspect your food yourself to be really sure there isn't any meat that may or may not have been accidentally added!. Especially in restaurants and cafeterias where other food is being made that has meat, there is always the possibility of it getting in your food!. It happens to me a lot, usually I just pick through it or not eat it, accidents happen!. Although I don't agree with it, you can't really blame people for mistakes!. But, vegetarian food should be made in a separate area as so it does not mix with meat and what not!. If it clearly wasn't an accident, then maybe you should talk to a higher authority about it and possibly bring your own lunch!. After an incident like that, I probably wouldn't order the food anymore, it's sketchy, haha!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I would certainly speak to the headmaster!. Although it is unlikely that any laws were broken, people in charge of food service need to be aware of ingredients, and honest in labeling items!. It is doubtful the school is required to have a vegetarian option- such things usually depend on how many students are vegetarians, and how vocal they are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You should definitely speak up!. I don't know if it is illegal but it is wrongfully advertised!. What if it was peanuts and you were deathly allergic!? They can do more harm other ways, so I think you should definitely get upset about it!.
At my college orientation they didn't label baked ziti and so I had it because I saw no meatballs or anything!.!. it had CHICKEN in it though!. I didn't make too much of a big deal b/c it wasn't labeled and basically my fault!.!. but still!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think the school can say that it's meat free if it isn't!. That could get tricky if ir was pork and a Jewish student ate it, or beef and a Hindu ate it, or if a Buddhist student ate it!. That would cause huge controversy, a school disrespecting a students beliefs!. So kick up and go straight to the head!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i don't know about laws but that's wrong!. Not only have you been basically tricked into eating meat, but by throwing it in the bin that dinner lady has wasted an animal's life!. If it was me I'd definitely complain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Im not a vegetarian but I agree with you!. You should definately take it up with the head of school!. You probably aren't the only one who has this view!. Try getting a petition up and handing it overWww@FoodAQ@Com
I'm not sure about the illegal stuff sorry! But I think you should defiantly do something about it, what if some one was a vegetarian because of religion reasons or had very bad allergies!.!.!. 1 talk to your head 2 Maybe write to a local paper! xWww@FoodAQ@Com
The only thing you can do is protect yourself from letting it happen again!. Next time pack a lunch because you obviously can't trust them when it says vegetarian and it wasn't!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
i think it is illegal because schools need to supply a vegetarian option
and naming it as vegetarian when its not is fraud is i would talk to your head teacherWww@FoodAQ@Com

I dont know if there are any laws against it but as a vegetarian myself i think this is totally disgusting!. I would certainly complain to someone in authorityWww@FoodAQ@Com
hahahaha, you should sue them and get all the school's funding, grow up!. Just another typical brat who don't appreciate what's given to themWww@FoodAQ@Com
Probably a simple error somewhere - why make a big deal about it though, just check it don't happen again!Www@FoodAQ@Com
