Congrats on your decision! I hope your journey is easy and fulfilling!.

I think if you eat a well-balanced range of fruit, veggies and whole grains, you should be okay!.
(You said that you're not eating eggs!.!.!.are you eating cheese!?)

Here are some easy veggie meals that are filling:
~veggie stir fry (use brown rice instead of white)!. you can add tofu if you'd like but you don't have to!. fresh or frozen veggies are a good option (it sort of depends on what's in season)

~spaghetti!. since you're not eating meat, you can be super creative with the things you add to the sauce: tomatoes, green peppers, onions, mushrooms, artichokes, zucchini, etc!. serve with a nice tossed salad and a piece of garlic toast or crusty bread!. use whole-wheat noodles instead of the white ones!.

~black bean and rice burritos (a la chipolte)!. you can add anything you want to this mixture: onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, green peppers, black olives, green olives, cheese if you eat it, salsa or taco sauce and so on!. wrap in a wheat tortilla and chow down!.

~for meat alternatives, they're okay in moderation!. you want to watch the sodium content as they are loaded with salt - especially the frozen types!. i like light life chicken strips (refrigerated) to add to stir fries and the like!. a really nice alternative where you don't have to worry that much about salt and GMOs would be seitan!. if you grab a box of the quick mix, it's literally a piece of cake!. mix it, cook it and season it to whatever you are trying to imitate (pork, beef, chicken, etc!.) there are tips on the box!. setian (for me) lasts longer than the store bought mock meats b/c it makes more!.

~just a few super foods you might want to find some good recipes for: sweet potatoes, quinoa, spinach and kale, mushrooms, beans (all types)!.
you also want to invest in some flax seeds!. i prefer the seeds over the oil!.!.i'm sure others have different opinions!. any-who!. it's a good source of omega-3 fatty acids (whcich are generally only found in meat and cold-water fish)!. i've seen them in regular grocery stores and they are WAAAAY expensive!. i buy mine at a health food store for a fraction of the price and grind them at home!. you can simply add it to cereal or smoothies for the nutritional benefits!.

i hope that helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Are you trying to be a vegetarian or a vegan!. Vegetarians still eat dairy and eggs but no meat!. (Some vegetarians claim that they are but still also eat fish!?) Vegans eat no meat or dairy, so no cheese, milk or eggs!. Anyways all fresh fruits and veggies are wonderful, be creative and try things that you never have!. For instance if you like tomatoes try tomatillo's, All dark green leafy veggies are very healthy!. There are some veggies that are not very beneficial, like regular potatoes, iceberg lettuce and celery!. These foods are basically like water, they may fill you up but contain little to no actual health benefits or vitamins!. Morning star farms products are great fake meats, like they have corn dogs and burgers!.And if you are worried about getting sick due to a lack of protein or b vitamins found in meat, just take supplements, like a daily multivitamin and eat foods rich in these things like beans and tofu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Good for you! I have been a vegetarian for a very long time although I am not a vegan (I do eat eggs and dairy products)!. I don't know what kind of vegetables you like but you should eat plenty of them!. Try eating some steamed broccoli, cauliflower or spinach (add some lemon juice and a bit of salt for flavour)!. Salads are great too!. You can put so many different types of veggies in there like cucumber, tomatoes, avocado, celery, radishes, anise, etc!. As for fruits, bananas, apples, oranges, pears, berries!. kiwis, mangos, grapes, tangerines, the list can go on forever! You should also try to eat plenty of beans and grains since they are a good source of protein as well!. Try lentils in a soup!. Very healthy for you!. Or a couscous salad!. Something that you might like to try as well is veggie burgers!. They're quite good!. Pasta is always a good choice with tomato sauce!. Or stir-fry rice!. Or stuffed tomatoes with rice!. Yummy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hummus is great if your a vegetrian!. I love pasta with marianara and zuchini and squash instead of meat!. Just experiment and try to add a lot of flavor to things like cilantro and rosemary!. After awhile your taste buds will change and the vegetables will taste better to you!. Remember to eat enough protein and calcium two things most vegetarians lack!. You can always take a protein shake even if your a vegan they have protein shakes made with soy beans and other vegetable proteins!. Good luckWww@FoodAQ@Com

well you could go to the natural foods/vegetarian section in Shaw's/stop and shop and find meatless foods!. you can also go online and look up websites that have vegetarian recipes on them!. Try vegcooking!.com

http://www!.vegcooking!.com/searchRecipes!.!.!.!.

you can go on amazon and look up vegetarian cookbooks and find something!.

you can try to just eat more fruits and vegetables rather than junky food (which i know is hard sometimes :D)!. you can also try hummus if you havent already, its pretty yummy w/ carrots!.

the last thing i can say is do what my mommy did 4 me!. go see your doctor and ask them if they can recommend you to a vegetarian nutritionist!. i went to one and she gave me a lot of recipes that were really good!. but the main thing is you have to be willing to try new things!.

good luck! seems like you're doing pretty good so far!Www@FoodAQ@Com

You need to add some complete proteins!. Beans combined with rice are a complete protein!. Do you like tofu!? It has protein & calcium!. Try some of the soy milk products (including soy or rice "ice cream"!.)There are some great veggieburgers on the market that cook really quickly in the microwave!. Amy's california burgers are good and don't taste like imitation meat!.!. They also make other frozen vegetarian & vegan dishes!. Make sure you are eating large quantities of veggies and include brown rice too!. The veggies do have vegetable protein in them!. Of course fruits and try to include some nuts (unsalted are healthier) like almonds and walnuts!. Because I have a busy schedule and don't always have time to shop, I keep frozen Birdseye brand steamed veggies in the freezer!. Oh, and try the "protein plus" pastas (Biralla)!. They taste great (just like regular) and have extra protein in them!. Try snacking on edamame!. Yummy!
Congrats on your decision to go meatless!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi !
First of all congratulations for your decision ! =D
You'll see, food isn't really a problem, the hardest is the reactions of stubborn people who don't want to listen to you!.!.!. Well I'm French and maybe vegetarians are better seen where you live (I really hope for you !)!.
You'll have to eat things to replace the proteins, iron!.!.!. which are in meat, and also to try not to be too repetitive!.!.!.
You can eat tofu (there are so many tastes that you will CERTAINLY find one that you love!.!.!.), soja steak (also a lot of flavours), vegetarian sausage and other "vegetarian meat" (yeah the expression is surprising I know =D), there are some really yummy, I love vegetarian meat ball, legume (red bean for exemple), cereals!.!.!.
The best for proteins is to eat AT THE SAME MOMENT cereals and legumes!. It's the association that makes it good for you!.!.!.
also, you should eat walnuts, avocados, dried fruits!.!.!.
In all supermarket you'll find a bio department where there are good stuff for you!. There are also specialized grocery of course!.
