Why am I a vegetarian? ?!
I am often asked "why are you a vegetarian!." I do because of animals but I don't know how to say it!. Please help!Www@FoodAQ@Com

when I'm in a bad mood, or tired of people asking me, I simply say "I dont want my body to be a graveyard"
but when I'm in a tolerant mood, I usually just say "I dont believe in hurting animals!. they have feelings, and friends, and ideas, and they dont deserve to be abused and killed"Www@FoodAQ@Com

Uhm!. You do b/c of animals!. Maybe because you sympathize with the animals and you choose not to eat their flesh!? Maybe b/c the animals live in horrendous conditions while being raised for humans to consume!? Maybe b/c you don't know what hormones and other drugs are being pumped into these animals that you choose not to eat!? Or that some of them are lame and sick when taken to slaughter!? Or just simply that the thought of eating the flesh of a once living animal is disgusting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Just say you don't eat things with faces!. Its elegant and direct!. If they ask for further clarification, just say that it makes you feel good!.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 40 years!. I can't tell you how many times I was asked that, but I must say with more people becoming vegetarians I get the question much less often!.
My answer is always as follows:
"I don't want to eat anything that has big brown eyes and I can hug!."
That usually says it all!. Of course some cruder people might make something of this comment, but that's another story!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
