My parents won't let me become vegan (read details)?!
Okay, I'm a vegetarian, and last year I tried to become vegan!. My mom has no problem with me replacing milk with soy milk, but she doesn't want to buy me a lot of extra food (since my whole family LOVES meat and dairy, and dairy seems to be in everything in my house)!. She's scared I wont get proper nutrition, and she'll not have anything to feed me!. The last time I told her, she yelled at me and grounded me!. What do you think she'll say if I tell her this-
1!. I'll start to expand what I'm eating, and try new foods
2!. I'll cook my own meals
3!. I will make sure that I'm getting proper nutrition, which is very possible on a vegan dietWww@FoodAQ@Com

To help you with job part:
You are not too young to get a job!. A job isn't working in an office, or even working for McDonald's, but it can be volunteering!.
You can mow, rake, and shovel!. 15-20 dollars per yard (for mowing) is a good price!. Think about how much food you could buy just by mowing 3 or 4 yards every month! And it will be all of your own food, not your parents, yours!.
I'm 16, and I've been a vegetarian since I was 12!. By the end of the summer, I will have mowed 20 or so lawns!. That's just 20 lawns, between May and October, and I make several hundred bucks!.
Can't isn't an answer!.
As for the vegan part!. She is definately wrong!. It sounds like you're on the right track (cooking your own food, trying new meals, etc)!. She had no reason to ground you!. You and your mom should go online together and look at the pros of being vegan, and look for ways to be a healthy vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well you can ask, unless you excessively know or have gone to a nutritionist,
I don't blame your mother, you are 14 and are a child!.
Being a vegetarian is one thing, being a vegan is harder!. Its a much more strict diet!.
Your also still growing and your nutritional needs do need to be met!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I have the same problem!. My parents hated the idea!. Just slowly stop eating certain things!. One at a time!. Eventually you'll be vegan!. About the food: when you go to the store just start suggesting things to your mom as you get rid of equal items!. Going slower will also help you adjust more easily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You explain that you are getting a job!. Then you buy and cook your own meals with your money and clean up the mess after you have eaten!. Then maybe your family will support you!. Until then you eat what is put before you by the people that are providing for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
do some research and plan out how you're going to get all of the nutrition you need on a vegan diet!. you might just impress her with how serious and committed you are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you can convince them with that then you are a vegan! If not, tell them to think of how much they could cut back on buying all that nasty stuff for 1 whole less person!. that can add up in this day's economy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
how about go back to being a normal person vegetarians and vegans are idiots and they are stupid and don't get proper fiber or whatever from meatWww@FoodAQ@Com
ask to try it out as well and see how it goes - if all goes well you will take it from there!. That is how I became a vegetarian!Www@FoodAQ@Com
The only reason she's trying to stop you is because she doesn't want you to embarass yourself, you are a sheepWww@FoodAQ@Com
well as far as avoiding dairy and eggs goes you can do it pretty cheaply!. soymilk is cheap and substitutes well for milk!. skip vegan cheese, it's expensive and not very good!. you can make scrambled tofu instead of eggs, tofu is super cheap!. you can also use applesauce to replace eggs in recipes!. it's probably a little bit cheaper too!.
and don't worry if you aren't totally vegan, just be as vegan as you can!. no one is perfect!. you'll be on your own, making your own food choices for most of your life!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sorry to say it, but until you can fund your own lifestyle, you need to do as your mother says!. If she's willing to meet you half-way with vegetarian diet, then be thankful -- I know quite a few parents who wouldn't even go that far!.
It's not a matter of cooking your own meals necessarily, it's also the cost of the food!. And your mother has a bit of a point regarding nutrition!. You're still growing and need as much nutrition as you can get from a broader range of foods than you might otherwise be getting from a vegan diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
