Answers:
Backers yeast is alive, Nutritional yeast is dead!. This is a good thing since eating live yeast would make you ill!.
BTW: You get nutritonal yeast at a health food storeWww@FoodAQ@Com

Regular Active Yeast is what is used in Bread!. This yeast is found on plants, fruits, and grains, and releases Carbon dioxide when it converts to sugar!. Nutrional yeast is unactivated yeast that is used for vegan and vegetarian diets to substitute the loss of nutrients (vitamins and protein) caused by not eating meat!. It does have a cheesy flavor and is most commonly used as a cheese substitute, but can be added to any dish!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
The difference is active VS!. inactive!. Active yeast consumes sugar to produce carbon dioxide in things such as beer and leavened breads!. The latter is more of an inactive yeast culture which produces some cheeses and yogurts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Yeast you eat as a supplement is dead while yeast you make bread with is still alive!. Eating or drinking live yeast can make you sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I don't know the difference, only that people use nutritional yeast to mimic cheese in vegan cooking!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
