Where do vegetarians.....?!

Question: Where do vegetarians!.!.!.!.!.!?
get this wild notion that just by becoming a vegetarian they save 100 animals a year!.!.!.there has never been one peer reviewed journal ever released that supports this

Reasoning: 1000 people in a village, 1 farm produces enough meat each year for 800 of them!.!.!.!.i person out of the 1000 decides to become a vegetarian!.!.!.that still leaves 999 to eat the meat available to only 800 therefore no drop in demand, thus they are not saving a single animal

If that is so obviously true why are sooooo many vegetarians blind and deaf as they only see and hear what they want!.!.!.and never ask for proof!.!.!.but if a meat eater makes a claim they tear it apart and demand 20 peer reviewed articles to prove it!.!.!.!.like if you tell vegetarians that plants do respond to pain stimuli!.!.!.they just put their fingers in their ears and go LA LA LA LA yet you tell them that they save 100 animals a year and they are listening and never ask for proof!.!.!.!.!.why is this!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
It's pretty natural defence mechanisms- people don't want to hear it, so they either deny it or just plain ignore it!.

They don't want to know that eating plants may cause them pain, but they are fine in insulting the eating habits of meat eaters, because they don't do it!.

Listen to the debates in the House of Commons, the speakers there rarely actually listen to each other's arguements, and just keep repeating the same point over and over in slightly different wordings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

People are vegetarians for all kinds of reasons, not just for reasons of animal welfare!. We don't tend to live in villages anymore which are self sufficient!. Farming is an industry and the meat on your plate has travelled many miles to get there!. So people across the whole country becoming vegetarian will clearly affect demand, and industry responds to demand!. I do reject the idea that vegetarianism "saves" animals - most of the animals consumed are farmed and would not therefore even exist without agriculture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

everyone has the right the have their own opinion fair enough!.
Speaking for myself and I'm sure most other vegetarians, we respect those who are meat eaters and their choices to eat meat, and in return we respect the same!. We have our reasons for not choosing to eat meat, and you should learn to live with that, is it hurting you in anyway!?
And have you ever heard of every little helps!!?
:)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Excellent point!. Farm animals will be slaughtered and sold in supermarkets whether a certain person buys them or not!. It's not like each animal is numbered; they don't say, "Oh Citizen 11786 has stopped eating meat, so "his animals" go free" or something like that!.

Many people use whatever philosophy they follow as a creed, and they will shore up that creed by whatever means they can!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's all statistics!. I just love statisticians, they can make a mountain out of a molehill depending on whose agenda they are backing!.

No one can say if any animals will be saved!. If half of the UK became vegetarians overnight, all the surplus meat would go for export!. It's a vast business!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i'm a veggie, but not for the animals sake! i just dont like the taste of meat and used to get food poising a lot when i was a kid!Www@FoodAQ@Com

vegetarians are vegetetarians for several reasons, religion, empathy, choice, or maybe they dont like meat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's based on the rate at which slaughterhouses run and the average omnivore diet!.!.!. so yes there is logic behind it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most people Don't eat meat Because!.

First, source from a reputable and verifiable source your claim that vegeterians make claims that they "Save 100m animals a year"

Second, your argument bases itself on a fallacy that (In developed countries at least) the amount of meat produced is less than the demand in the population to eat that meat!.

Simple economics!. If you have 1,000 peple who want to eat meat, and sufficient production to meet that demand, then reducing that 1,000, even by one will reduce the amount of meat production!.

I won't waste bandwidth on setting out further reasons why eating less meat, or none at all might be a better was of life for someone who cannot discriminate between a plants reaction to damage, and an animals feeling pain and distressWww@FoodAQ@Com

a lot of people don't eat meat because of the cruelty to animals!. they don't want to support the pain that the meat industry puts the animals through!. what's so wrong with that!? you're ridiculous, what you're saying is probably based on only a few vegetarians!. obviously you have either done no research or it's bogus!.
there are many alternatives to meat, it's better for you and it's better for the animals!. vegetarians in the whole DO save animals, there is slightly less of a demand for meat and those animals do matter!.
your reasoning is NOT reasonable!. most people are going against the meat industry, not local farmers!. farmers usually are free-range and aren't cruel to their animals other than taking their life!.
if there's one meat corporation, 10 million people and 1 million are vegetarians, that will make a difference!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Wow, I'm a vegetarian and I've enver heard anybody say they're saving 100 animals a year, that would be ridiculous!.
Look at it on the whole, the meat eaters aren't always going to eat whatever the vegetarians don't!. What if half of the villiage became vegetarian!? Would the meat eaters DOUBLe their meat consumption!? No!.
Lol, plants have no nervous system, they can't feel pain!. Why would a plant have evolved pain - they can't do anything to stop whatever hurts them so it's pointless!

EDIT: thanks for listening to what I'm saying but plants can't feel pain - there's nothing there to actually recieve pain signals - they have no brain!. And if they can feel pain then I at least would not value hurting a plant once equal to all the suffering factory farm animals endure!.
I've tried a few combinations of what you've typed into google but I'm not getting anything near that number, though granted they do seem to think veggies save 100 animals a year (though that would mean meaties go through two animals a week - wtf with those numbers!?)
I don't know why I'm pushing this point, I'm vegetarian because meat tastes awful to me, and I don't have to justify that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hello, I am not sure what your question is, because most veggies don't have the notion that they save 100's of animals lives!.
I don't eat meat because I don't like where it comes from, I don't like what it does to my insides and I don't want to be a part of what they do to animals!. I have no notion that me not eating meat will save animals at all, but I do feel that I don't have to be a part of it!.
I feel that no matter what we do we will never stop what people do, people don't really wear fur any more, but people still cull the seal!.
It is our life choices that make us who we are, and for that I am glad to be me!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, with flawed reasoning like yours, you can try to explain away anything!.

It's 2 of every hundred people, not 1 of every 1000!. So, that's 16 out of 800!. Not a lot of people, but when expanded globally, it adds up to millions of people!. If those millions of people did eat meat, they would have been accounted for by the creation of new animals ahead of time!. But they don't eat meat, so those animals are never created!.

Your analogies are nonsensical, not that anyone takes you seriously to begin with!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I knew a girl in high school that was a vegetarian!. I recently saw her for the first time since I graduated almost 11 years ago!. She looked better now than she did in high school!. Guess what!. She was no longer a vegetarian!.

I knew another guy that was athletic in high school!. Guess what!. He became a vegetarian and started looking pale and weak!.

I used to work with a girl that was a vegetarian and then started eating meat!. Guess what!. She looked less pale and started looking better!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
