I am not a tofu type of person and my recipe calls for 2lbs of ground beef!. I need something that I can use to replace the beef!. My tastes are not adventurous but I like good food!.

1 can (10 oz!.) tomatoes & green chilies (mild)-drained
2 cans (14!.5oz/ea!.) tomatoes with onions
1 can (12oz!.) Chili beans
1 can (11 oz!.) golden whole kernel corn drained
1Tbsp!. Tabasco Brand Pepper Sauce
Brown the ground beef in large pot!. Drain the beef and return it to the pot!.
Add the ranch mix, taco seasoning, drained tomatoes and chilies, tomatoes with onions, drained chili beans, drained corn and Tabasco to the pot with the beef!. Cover and cook for 35 mins!.
Serve with sour cream, cheese and tortilla chips!.
So I never made this before so what do you think would taste good in place of the meat!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Try chopped up portabello mushrooms! They are a similar texture and taste to the beef, and hold up well in most recipes!. I use them in tacos, burrittos, chili, stroganoff, etc!. If you don't mention it to non vegetarians, they are not likely to even notice there is no meat in the recipe-tastes great!Www@FoodAQ@Com
I find that the best texture imitation of beef, not being a tofu person myself also, is a mixture of chickpeas and quinoa!. Slightly undercook the Quinoa to get a more crunchy, grain-like texture so that when mixed with a firmer legume such as the chickpea, it really gives it some extra substance!. You can find quinoa in health stores or even in the natural food aisle at some commercial supermarkets!.

There is a soy biased product called crumbles that looks, and tastes like ground beef!. It would be located in the freezer section with the other soy substitutes meat products!. I am not sure whether it is a Morningstar product or not!. If your supermarket does not carry it, ask that it be ordered for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
