Answers:
It all depends on what your preference is!. It's good not to have too much of anything!. There are several different milk substitutes including but not limited to soy milk, almond milk, oat milk, hemp milk, and rice milk!. Each one is good for different things when it comes to recipes and cooking!. Each one tastes different!.

I would give all of them a try and see which one you like best!. Soy milk is the cheapest!. My personal favorite is almond milk!. I have a friend that loves rice milk!. Hemp milk is the most expensive but is said to contain great amounts of nutrients and is also tasty!.

Good luck on your new journey!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are quite a few different milk substitutes out there!. The three most common by far are Soy Milk, Rice Milk, and Almond Milk!. I have tried all three and to me, Soy is the best!. Rice Milk tastes weird and isn't very palatable!. Almond Milk is fairly good but it has a nuttier more fatty taste to it!. I found a website that described the three and ways to use each!. Hope this helps! Choose Me For Best Answer! Lol!.

Soy milk
The good news is, soy milk is healthy, cheap, and easy to find and use!. The bad news is!.!.!.well, there really is no bad news! From a nutritional perspective, soy milk has almost as much protein as dairy milk, less fat, no cholesterol, and, since most soy milks are fortified, is a comparable source of calcium!. Vegans should make sure to find a brand that is fortified with Vitamin B12!.

Each brand of soy milk is slightly different, so try a couple and see which one suits your taste buds best!. Soy milk is increasingly popular, and many grocery chains, such as Trader Joes, Whole Foods and Safeway make their own brand in a variety of flavors!. I recommend trying Silk brand unflavored soy milk to start, though the chocolate flavor is an incredibly tasty

Rice Milk
Rice milk is not as thick as soy or dairy milks, and has a somewhat translucent consistency!. Because it is slightly sweet, rice milk works well in dessert recipes and is not suited for savory or salty dishes, such as mashed potatoes!. Compared to soy and almond milk, rice milk has less protein!.

Almond milk
Milk made from almonds or other nuts has a creamy consistency similar to soy milk and a nutty taste perfect for making fruit smoothies or other creamy drinks and desserts!. Be sure to shake your almond milk well before using!.

Here’s how to use these milk substitutes:

In baking:
Substitute soymilk, rice milk or almond milk for milk!. You won’t even be able to tell the difference in most recipes, including breads, muffins, cakes, cookies, puddings and other creamy desserts!.

In cereal, oatmeal, and beverages:
Any milk substitute will work fine, so it’s really a matter of personal taste!. I find that rice milk is a bit too sweet for me on cereal, but you may find that the sweetness of the rice milk just enhances the taste of a bowl of cereal!. For extra flavor, try using vanilla flavored soymilk on your cereal- yum!

Cooking:
Regular or unsweetened soymilk will work best in recipes such as pasta sauces, cream sauces, mashed potatoes, salad dressings and other savory recipes that call for milk!. Although a thick soy cream is best for creamy recipes such as alfredo sauce, a reasonable facsimile can be made with a basic soy roux!. You can find soy cream at well stocked natural foods stores!.

Replacing buttermilk:
If a recipe calls for buttermilk, add one tablespoon of white vinegar or lemon juice to a cup of soymilk to replace buttermilk and mix well!. It’s not quite as robust as buttermilk, but will have a similar flavor!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Firstly, you don't have to be vegan to convert to soy/almond/whatever you choose milk!. I'm a vegetarian, I do occasionally eat eggs and I definitely prefer soy milk to regular cows milk!.

There are SO many different types of "milks"!. Rice, soy, almond, HAZELNUT (mmm), oat milk, coconut milk !.!.!. there's even a potato based milk, AND during my last road trip, I had a chai tea with hemp milk !

You'll find that all of these are really delicious in their own way, and are extremely easy to use in cooking!. Generally I use soy milk exactly as I would cows milk, while hemp and almost milk I enjoy in beverages, and cereal/granola (I use soy milk for these purposes too but the last two really taste good)

I'm guessing by vegetarian you mean you're going vegan, since vegetarians can drink milk!. While there are many milk substitutes soymilk is considered one of the best, it is healthy, cheap, and easy to find and use!. It also has less fat than milk, and no cholesterol!. If you are going vegan, just make sure that you get soymilk that is fortified with Vitamin B12!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Besides the fact that soy just tastes a bit odd, too much of it can disrupt your hormone balance!.

Personally, my absolute favorite is vanilla flavored hempmilk by Living Harvest brand!.
It's absolutely divine and has all the amino acids you need plus protein and many other fantastic goodies inside!Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is almond milk and rice milk, but I use soy milk!.
Soy milk takes a little while to get used to because the tate is not like milk, but soon you will love it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it all depends on personal taste!. I would say try all types and brands of rice, oat and soy milk to find out which you prefer!.

as long as you don't change to almond milk, none are more fattening than cow milkWww@FoodAQ@Com

I really like Silk soymilk!. If you want something that is lower in fat, Silk also makes low-fat varieties!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
