Vegetarianism - why? ?!

Question: Vegetarianism - why!? !?
why the hell do people want to eat only vegetables etc to ' save the animals!?' why cant they understand that eating meat - breeding and slaughtering - is what we are supposed to do!. its called the food chain!. i understand that some animals may suffer but thats life - they would suffer even more in the wild if they were eaten by another animal!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
totally true!. I think people thinks it's healthy which it somewhat is but hey, I know fat vegetarians so it's not all what it's cracked up to be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Eating vegetables - no detrimental effect to health!.
Eating meat - increased risk of various cancers, esp bowel cancer which is believed to be due to the fact it is difficult for our omnivore system to digest the large quantities of meat consumed in a western diet!.
Increased chance of heart disease!.
Increased chance of high cholesterol!.
Too protein rich a diet contributing to osteoporosis!.
Not to mention all the additives that go into your meat!. It's not like you go out and hunt it, it is merely a capitalist commodity, it is pumped full of hormones and antibiotics!.
Oh and the fact that cattle methaning up the world is having a huge impact on global warning is a mere aside!.

And as for the food chain!.!.!. I hope you get eaten by a bear!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

A wholesome plant-based diet based mainly on fresh produce is excellent in preventing a wide variety of diseases!.

Humans are designed to eat a high fiber low fat diet!.

Don't tell me, tearing young calves from their mothers, feeding them an iron deficient diet to make them anemic, and cramming then in cages, to prevent building tone so the meat will be tender is natural!.

Don't tell me keeping chickens in a dark, crammed crowded shed, with amonia levels off the charts and depriving them of sunlight and room to run around and search for food, and be chickens is natural!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Supposed to do!? According to who!? I don't understand people who use the "it's natural" or "why do we have canine teeth!?" arguments!. There are a million things we do every day that aren't "natural!." The clothes you wear, unless you only wear cotton and leather probably isn't natural!. Living in a house isn't "natural!." Processed foods pumped full of chemicals and hormones aren't natural!. Pesticides aren't natural!. Cooking meat isn't natural!. In fact a vegan's lifestyle is closer to nature then most people's lives!.

You talk about the foodchain, but you forget that we are different then other animal!. Thanks to our prefrontal cortex we can think and make decisions!. We don't have to mindlessly eat food just because it's avalible, but can plan our diets to suit our desires, our health, and our moral beliefs!.

What does free range matter, you asked Mel M!. It matters because instead of cutting off an animal's beak and stuffing it in a cage where it can't move an animal instead is allowed to move about!. Maybe it doesn't make a difference to you but it does to a chicken!.

"I don't bleat on about what you should eat, why not let me alone!?"
Really!? It seems this whole rant is you "bleating" on our chosen diet!.

"we gain essential nutrients/vitamins etc from meat!." There is nothing you get from meat that you can't get without it!. Protein, iron, B-12 - all avalible in beans, nuts, veggies, milk and eggs!. How many look ill and pale!? No more pale then omnivores, and generally healthier!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not eating meat is healthier for the environment and for our bodies!.
A vegetarian should not have issues getting protein as long as they eat a varied diet of vegetables!. Do some research before you start making waves with people!. It's their choice not yours!

And as for the cavemen:
I can't imagine running after an animal managing to kill it and then eating it raw!. Gag me!.

EDIT: also those 'fat vegetarians' are usually the ones who replace meat with dairy!. Not a good idea!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because I choose not to ingest hormones, pesticides and antibiotics!.
Because avoiding colon cancer and heart disease is a hobby of mine!.
Because supporting the industry that is the leading producer of greenhouse gases, thus a main cause of global warming, is simply morally wrong!.

And, if I may quote you: "I don't bleat on about what you should eat, why not let me alone!?"

You posted here, darling!. In the vegetarian section!. So it would seem you are indeed the one who is "bleating on!."Www@FoodAQ@Com

sorry im helping the environment, helping the animals and helping my health!. biology doesnt say we have to eat animals!.

if you could see how animals are treated, i think you would be a vegetarian too!.
animals can eat other animals because they arent TORTUING them by slaughtering them!.!.!. cutting their throats!.!.!.!. branding them!.!.!. feeding them growth hormones to make their limbs break!.!.!.!.!.!. impregnating them and taking thier kid away so humans can get the milk!.!.!.!.!.!.!. some animals never turn around during their lifetimes!.!.!.

your a mammal too, should i eat you!?

animals getting killed in nature is the food chain; us slaughtering them is NOT!.

also you can get just as much protein being a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

u dont have to do it, its a choice, and ppl like me who r vegetarians think of all animals alike!. Say if u were raised by chickens-example not real-, would u ever eat chicken!? No cuz u think of those chicken as equal to u!. And also its NOT the chain of life, how would u like it if the world was a cage and every day some creature would be eating a human from the "large cage", and one day it was ur turn, how would YOU feel!? Humans are animals and no different than chickens and pigs etc!. Animals besides humans have feelings too ya know ! just like us!. they are no different than us except in appearence!. And ya wanna know wat, it is to save the animals, thats the most common reason y ppl are vegetarians!. How would u like it if u had to breed with a stranger, and then have ypur children and you slaughtered!?~!! you wouldnt feel so great would u!? thats exactly how the animals feel!.

DOES THAT ANSWER UR QUESTIONWww@FoodAQ@Com

I'm not for or against either side, but to who wrote this question: Why do you even care!? It's not like people are trying to make you do it!. And if they are, just tell them you're not interested!. You don't have to be rude and criticize everything you don't agree on!. Some people have different opinions than your, get over it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

because some people cant say " animals may suffer but that's life"!. As people can look after these animals better but they are to selfish not to!. Im no vegi but i only eat free range!. Anything else makes me sick!.!. youtube it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Please get a life!
Who cares if am a vegetarian ' its not you so shut up!
you can eat all the animals you want but why bash people just because they chose to be a vegetariansWww@FoodAQ@Com

Because they want to!.
You should really do your research and see the real suffering that these animals go through - its definitely shorter and less painful than what would happen in factory farms - my mistake!.

WHY is it contradictory!?
AND if we need all this protein then why aren't vegetarians dying!?
I don't bleat on about what you should eat, why not let me alone!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
