Its almost impossible to make block tofu mimic meat at home, you can buy tofu meat substitute that are closer but still not the same, the best thing do to is just play it how it is, tofu that being said you can make a great teriyaki tofu buy draining all the juice from the tofu and gently press it between paper towels to get extra liquid off of it then add it to a mixture of sake(a light white wine or light beer will work too) and soy sauce, use a few tablespoons of soy to a few cups of sake, let it soak for at least a few hours to over night, after soaking cut into strips or cubes then drain on paper towel before stir frying with your veggiesWww@FoodAQ@Com
Consumption of unfermented soy products is probably not such a good idea!. Unfermented soy contains high levels of a number of compounds that can: block the absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc; stunt growth; and alter hormone levels, disrupting menstruation, lowering testosterone, increasing the risk of breast cancer, and causing thyroid and prostate complications!. Unfermented soy includes things like soy milk, soy burgers, soy hot dogs, and tofu!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Tofu normally takes on the flavors surrounding it!. My suggestion would be to soak your block of tofu in some teriyaki marinade for about 20 to 30 minutes then flip it and do the same!. Not too long or it will be too strong and it may fall apart!. Use firm tofuWww@FoodAQ@Com
