To the vegetarians/vegans - why are you a vegetarian/vegan?!

Question: To the vegetarians/vegans - why are you a vegetarian/vegan!?
Answers:
There are 3 main reasons people are vegetarian/vegan

1!. Ethical

2!. Dietary

3!. Religion

"Its a healthier lifestyle free from sickness!."--nonsense!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I became permanently disabled in the Marine Corps and didn't want to be on sedatives for the rest of my life!. I read that several studies from around the world showed that a vegetarian diet was good for people with my condition, with a vegan diet being the best!. I figured I had nothing left to lose, so I tried veganism!.

I'm not cured by any means, but it does help!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I was a vegetarian first, but then became vegan!.

My initial reasoning was animal cruelty; the conditions they live in, the fact that they're often ill and given antibiotics and hormones!.!. it all added up to nonsense to me!. Why eat that!?!

The more I researched, I found that there are many health benefits to a meatless diet!.

Further, as a deeply religious/spiritual person, I feel much closer to God in not eating beings that He created!.

I basically feel that all three reasons play a factor in my decision for being vegan!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I can remember doing a presentation in middle school with a bunch of my vegetarian friends, called something like 'Why you shouldn't eat meat'!. That was the trigger- I got really into Peta after that and started watching all the horrible videos of animals cruelty!.

I think once you're a vegetarian for 6 years like me, or longer for other people- you realize what a healthy option it is, and get used to it!. It used to be a really strong view of mine, but now I don't eat meat because i'd probably throw up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For a variety of reasons!.
Firstly I do feel healthier on a vegan diet and that is something that will always be true!.
Secondly I felt that the environmental damage caused by the creation of meat for consumption in the form of wasted water, GrennHouse emissions and excess excrement to be deplorable!.
Thirdly I couldn't understand why something had to endure a life of pain and misery to finally die in an unfortunately cruel circumstance to satisfy my tastes buds!.
That's why!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For all the reasons I might give, health, environment or animal suffering, the point would be that it just felt like such a natural change and it may me feel so much better!. I'm not going to sit here and write that the only way to be healthy is if you shun animal products and I'm even going to disregard scientific prove that may point to the health benefits of such a diet!. But I also can't deny the positive effects it has had on my body, the allergies that have subsided and the general energy that has been lifted!. I won't attribute it all to physical aspects though, because the simple fact of making that choice as one based on empathy and making it work can do so good for your spirit that it improves your body!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

-World food crisis - the grain going to feed livestock could be going to starving, hungry people around the world!!

-Animals - we shouldn't have to raise animals like that

-Environment - 86,000 lbs!. of poop every second!.!.!.

I'm vegan in order to minimise my personal contribution to animal suffering and exploitation as much as I possibly can!.

Hmmm!.!.!. to say that veg*nism is a lifestyle free from sickness is quite simply not true!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

when i heard that fishermen were making caviar by clipping the eye balls off lobsters and throwing them back in the water without eyes!.

open a tin of caviar and you'll see that it's full of lobster eye balls not sturgeon eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its a healthier lifestyle free from sickness!. More variety and choice of food!.More variety of taste!. and More reasons of being a vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'm vegan because I need not be otherwise!.

Animals undoubtedly suffer though our use of them (slavery) and if I can get by easily without contributing to this then I will!.

I believe that choosing variety over what is right is selfish!.
