Personally, I think soy in ALL forms is a bad idea!. Most soy has been genetically modified and is no longer a natural food-its been spiced with the DNA of all sorts of weird stuff (including scorpion venom to make the crops more pest resistant), and its just frankenfood, as far as I am concerned!. There is far too much controversy about soy, and I think its best to avoid the stuff!. Its also the leading cause of adult onset food allergies, due to the manipulation of the plant through GMO!. You would likely do well on rice, oat, or nut milks, all of which are easily homemade!. Raw, organic milk is often great for lactose intolerance too, since the raw milk contains all of the enzymes needed to break the milk down in the digestive track!. I am highly ALLERGIC to commercial milk, but do great on milk straight from the cow!. Commercial milk is full of growth hormones, steroids, and other medications the commercially farmed animals are fed, and all of that goes into the milk!. The vitamin D in milk is actually a medical steroid!. Most people are reacting to those things, rather than the milk itself!. I would suggest you find alternatives besides soy, especially if you are young!. I used to drink soy milk, and developed extreme allergies to it and other foods!. I am a nutritionist who has done extensive research on soy and other GMO foods, for what its worth!. I am not just spouting off rumors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Soy has phytoestrogens and in moderation it is good for you!. I am vegan and I drink two glasses of soymilk a day and suffer no ill effects!. If you buy silk soymilk, which is my favorite, you can avoid genetically altered soybeans!. Just read the carton!. It's even organic!. I also eat tofu, another soy product!. The problem is not soy persay, it's soy protein isolate, which shows up everywhere from veggie burgers to a number of other soy products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
