How many of you are vegan or vegetarian for moral reasons?!
It's a project for school!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
I'm not!. I'm carnivorous because thats the animals' purpose: to be eaten!. Otherwise we wouldn't have cows, chickens, pigs, etc!. Because who the hell wants to pay the money for a cow as a pet!? I think not!. All the farm animals would be extinct if we did not eat them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I am vegan for ethical/moral reasons!.
I have wanted to become vegetarian since I was around 12 but didn't know much about it, tried a few failed attempts because I would "forget" I was suppose to be vegetarian!. The reason this happened is because I didn't know exactly how animals suffered - I knew that they were killed but, I guess growing up eating meat in a meat-friendly family I didn't think much about the hows and whys!. also the people I hung around with at that time made it very hard for me as a 12 year old to become vegan!. And I guess the fact that my dad is a big meat eater but, also a lover of animals delayed me also - I just didn't do the math!.
A few years later, when I was 16, I read a book called "Skinny *****", thinking it would help me lose weight (like most teenage girls) but, it did so much more than that, it opened me up to what really goes on behind closed factory houses and how animals are killed and how it's not even good for you anyway!.
This compelled me to research more about this issue and a week later I was completely vegan!. Although, looking back, I was still eating things I thought were vegan, like certain breads I didn't know had milk in them but, I have sorted that out!.
Anyway, now, nearly 2 years on, I am here!. And to my grave I will stand behind my reason's and my decision to eat a vegan diet and do my best to live a vegan lifestyle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I became vegetarian after doing some of my own research about it!. I do it not only for the health benefits, but also because it's a very "green" thing to do!. You'd be amazed how much pollution is created by slaughterhouses!. I also do it for the animals too -- humans only started eating animals as instinct to survive!. It's the same reason why we crave fatty foods -- because we used to need the fat to survive when food availability was low!. We need to learn to re-program ourselves, because we don't need those things anymore!.
Anyways - I'm going to get off my soap box now!. But I did become vegetarian for the animals as well -- if you read about cows & pigs reacting to everything that's happening to them, it's really heartbreaking!. Especially pigs, since studies have shown that they have the intelligence level of a 3-year-old child!.
Hope that helps!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am because my whole life, I've loved animals, and my whole life I've never seen the difference between the animals I loved and what I was eating!. The thought of eating veins and blood started grossing me out, also!.
After going vegetarian, I realized how much healthier I got, and after going vegan, I got even healthier!. After going vegetarian, I went from very skinny, to just skinny!. After going vegan, I went from skinny to filled out, the right Weight for my age and height!.
I would never go back to poisoning my body with animal products, and I could never see myself eating a being that I call my friend!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I am!.
It took a while to make the change, but I took a philosophy class in my undergraduate years!. One philosopher equated an animal to a mentally-retarded person-- we as fully-functioning adults have an ethical obligation to care for each of those groups because we are more aware of what is best for them!. This struck a chord, and the next week I saw a PETA pamphlet laying on the sidewalk, opened to a page of pictures that I did NOT want to see!. That did it!.
I respect the life of animals and want to honor them by not using them as a means for my life source!. I don't care if people eat meat around me, and I don't talk about my reasons for vegetarianism unless asked!. Those people bother me!. It's a personal choice, and I am happy with it!.

My daughter is a vegitarian, while i believe that its all about natural order!. My daugther position is that she does not believe that animals are in facilities that allow them to be the animal they are!. They are not being fed a proper diet (mostly corn - which for a cow can be deadly over a period of time) and the facilites that they are housed in is not natural, and pollutes the enviroment!. She would however eat meat from a hunted animal such as dear!.
Personally i am proud that she takes a stand for what she believes in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

We are converting to veganism for health reasons, but that choice clears up a lot of the ethical dilemmas we were having!. Farmed fish v wild fish, etc; and I'd already given up turkey and veal for ethical reasons!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

to "lost in the foreseen"
Thanks for including so many anti-veggie cliches in one paragraph, it really made me laugh
Do you have any clue !?
a) you are not carnivorous at all
b) animals purpose !?!? Who decided that !? why does an animal need a "purpose" that relates to humans !?
c) we wouldn't have those animals!. Nonsense, most countries don't eat horses and they exist as pets!. fyi, we have 12 cows and 40 sheep as pets on our land - you'll have to rethink that arguement
d) extinct !? nonsense, cows and sheep live quite happily in the wild, they don't need humans
how simply daft your answer isWww@FoodAQ@Com
