I'm not vegetarian but I have a friend who is and she's always sharing her vegetarian recipes with me!. I find that beans have lots of protein!. I am a runner and I know how important protein is!. I usually will eat peanut butter on some sort of whole grain bread!. I think it packs about 7-8 g of protein per 2 tbsp serving!. 2 tbsp is about the size of a ping pong ball if you don't want to measure it!. also, soy has lots of protein!. If you are still going to eat dairy, I suggest some cheeses or yogurt!. I found a pretty good website that pretty much sums what I said up: http://www!.ehow!.com/how_4706197_good-veg!.!.!.

Good luck being vegetarian! It really isn't hard!. :) By the way, if you want a great vegetarian recipe I can post it here for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Tofu is a great source of protein!.

Combine any bean and any grain (like beans and rice) and you have a good source of protein!.

If you are giving up meat just for Lent - I would not worry about having to replace it with much of anything else - just eat a balanced diet otherwise!.

The Standard American Diet has way too much protein in it anyway- in addition to religious reasons for giving up something for Lent - it probably will do your body some good to go on a meat holiday!.

Best of luck to you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nuts: Cashews, peanuts, almonds, walnuts, pecans, peanut butter, etc!.

Beans: black beans, kidney, lima, lentils, navy beans, etc!.

These foods are in the protein group for vegetarians!. You could also eat egg unless egg is not included in your diet!.

You should also try eating lots of raw vegetables and fruit!. Try veggie stirfry rice with beans and maybe eggs!. You will find that if you limit your processed food during this diet you'll have so much energy and feel healthier afterwards!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
