Is soymilk really healthy, why?!
Answers:
I believe that milk must be natural, that is to say milk of cow just milked, the milk of soya has many chemists that without a doubt is not better than the natural one!. Greetings!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
You may be wondering why the answerer above me makes a bizarre and out of context reference to your dad!. This is because he has cut and pasted someone else's answer ( a YA violation known as cheating) and hasn't thought to edit it - he has reproduced it without checking the content, so it seems fair to assume he hasn't checked the facts either:
http://answers!.yahoo!.com/question/index!?!.!.!.
Please don't be alarmed by some of the misinformation he has given; here are the facts about soya and cancer:
Soya proteins contain isoflavones that can mimic a weak oestrogen effect!. It's not the same as the oestrogen your own body makes though - it is 1,000 times weaker than your own body's oestrogen, but it's this that has led to concerns (and rumour) about oestrogen dependent cancer and about adverse effects on men!.
There is no actual scientific evidence that soya causes, prevents, contributes to or affects the progress of any cancer, including oestrogen positive breast cancer, which is the one most often cited!. There are those in the field who argue that isoflavones may be of help in preventing breast cancer or be beneficial to women who have had breast cancer!.
There is current research into whether increasing phyto oestrogens in the diet helps to prevent breast or prostate cancer, and a study in 2002 found that women with the highest levels of soya products in their diets had the lowest breast density - higher breast density being associated with higher breast cancer risk!.
Women with the highest levels of isoflavones in their diet are reported to have significant risk reductions for uterine cancer!.
There are concerns about soya and certain thyroid conditions, but I don't have sufficient knowledge to comment on that!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Here are a couple of facts for you:
Myth: Soy estrogens (isoflavones) are good for you!.
Truth: Soy isoflavones are phyto-endocrine disrupters!. At dietary levels, they can prevent ovulation and stimulate the growth of cancer cells!. Eating as little as 30 grams (about 4 tablespoons) of soy per day can result in hypothyroidism with symptoms of lethargy, constipation, weight gain and fatigue!.
Myth: Soy foods are safe and beneficial for women to use in their postmenopausal years!.
Truth: Soy foods can stimulate the growth of estrogen-dependent tumors and cause thyroid problems!. Low thyroid function is associated with difficulties in menopause!.
Consumption of unfermented soy products is probably not such a good idea!. Unfermented soy contains high levels of a number of compounds that can: block the absorption of calcium, magnesium, iron and zinc; stunt growth; and alter hormone levels, disrupting menstruation, lowering testosterone, increasing the risk of breast cancer, and causing thyroid and prostate complications!. Unfermented soy includes things like soy milk, soy burgers, soy hot dogs, and tofu!.
Sorry!.!.!.!.sounds like your dad is correct!

It is true to say, however, that recent publications have stated that Soya products may not be good for us when we eat huge amounts!.
Apparently, according to Dr Mercola (online), some soya products can actually be harmful because 1!. of the processing methods 2!. eating soya obsessively!.
BUT, however, soya as a whole food (eg beans, or bean sprouts) is still considered to be good for you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

First of all!.!.!. why is it called soy milk!? It should be called soy juice!.
It has no dairy, fat or cholesterol like milk does!. It also doesn't have nearly as much calcium or essential vitamins!. It's a trade off!.
Vegans like it because it's a passable milk substitute but contains no animal byproduct!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
