Hey veggans you are losing your fight?!
your fighting a losing cause/Global meat consumption is expected to grow 2 percent each year until 2015, especially in developing countries where eating meat is seen as a sign of wealth and prosperity!. Half of the world's pork is now eaten in China , while Brazil is the second largest consumer of beef, after the United States !.
In 2007, meat production remained steady at an estimated 275 million tons; in 2008, output is expected to top 280 million tons!.1Experts predict that by 2050 nearly twice as much meat will be produced as today, for a projected total of more than 465 million tons!.2 For more than a decade, the strongest increases in production have been in the developing world-in 1995 more meat and dairy products were produced in developing than in industrial countries for the first time, and this trend has continued ever since!.3 In fact, in 2007 at least 60 percent of meat was produced in developing nations!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Global meat consumption is highly concentrated, dominated by only a few nations!. The United States and China, which contain 25 percent of the world's population, combine to consume 35 percent of the world's beef, over half of the world's poultry, and 65 percent of the world's pork!. If Brazil and the European Union are included, this group consumes over 60 percent of the world's beef, over 70 percent of the world's poultry, and over 80 percent of the world's pork!.
If you read more of the article you will see how meat consumtion is depleting our natural resources, causing obesity amongst other major health problems, and is being produced inefficiently so the land used for it could be used to feed grain to third world countries!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Then staple foods (i!.e!. grains) will become more and more scarce, more people will starve, food prices will go up, and we'll eventually f**k ourselves over as more and more people adopt the typical Western diet saturated in meat and bleached grain!.

I respect that people eat meat, that is their choice just as much as it is my choice not to!.
So we are not loosing our fight, we are still eating what we wish!. In the end when a mostly vegetable based diet is the only sustainable and affordable do to soaring fuel cost iand the energy and land investment of livestock farming, long time vegetarians and vegans will be the ones guiding everybody else how to eat a sustainable, responsible, affordable and healthy diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You are most likely right but consider this!.
54 percent of American women over 18 are overweight, a 2 percent increase from last year's figures, in just five years the ranks of overweight women will expand to a whopping 64 percent!.
63% of Americans are overweight, 31% are obese!.
Childhood obesity in the United States has more than tripled in the past two decades!. According to the U!.S!. Surgeon General report obesity is responsible for 300,000 deaths every year!.
Now my question to you!. How many Obese vegetarians/vegans do you know!? I'll quess not many!.
So go ahead keep eating meat in fact eat more of it, speed things up a bit!. By those rates above every meat eater on this planet will be too fat to move by 2050 and veggie's will have won!.!.!.
Stop believing everything your ill informed parents/goverments have told you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Not sure what a veggan is, or what your question is, but if you mean vegans -
Most vegans are vegan in order to minimise their personal contribution to animal suffering and exploitation as much as they possibly can, rather than in the belief that in becoming vegan they are taking on the worldwide meat industry!.
I agree that you've made yourself look a little foolish with this post!. You're not the first to come to this board thinking V&Vers are mindless hippies whose naivety you can have a little fun with and believing you have the ultimate unanswerable Gotcha! - only to find most of us are articulate intelligent people who give as good as we get!.
I wonder why veganism bothers you so much that you felt compelled to seek out this forum and post this rant!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Nice try!. I don't dispute your figures, but there's something you seem to have overlooked:
With an increase in the worldwide consumption of animal fat, there will be a directly proportional increase in the rates of obesity, colon cancer and heart disease!.
Now, please tell us again that b!.s!. about "a losing cause"!.!.!. the veggans (whatever they are - check the dictionary or the spell-checker) that you targeted with your rant (there wasn't even a hint of a question there - check the rules of Y!A before posting another) probably couldn't give a flying **** - they'll mostly be still healthy in 2050!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think you have a question for us to answer but i may argue about vegans losing their fight!. First of all vegans are not fighting with anyone nor forcing anyone not to eat meat!. Yes there is peta and other organizations that preach being vegans but they are a limited few!. Most vegans are either prohibited by their religion/culture from eating meat and others by choice, probably because for them it is a healthier option!. These vegans don't mind others eating meat, its just that they don't want to eat meat!. On another thought, more and more people eating meat instead of vegetables might be good for vegans due to lesser demand for vegetables, meaning cheaper vegan food!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
