Vegetarians/vegans - do you object to the eating of roadkill?!

Question: Vegetarians/vegans - do you object to the eating of roadkill!?
i am a vegetarian myself and personally wouldn't eat roadkill, simply because i couldn't stand the thought of eating meat!.
but as far as principles go, i would have no problem with eating roadkill, or an animal that had died naturally!.
the thing is, i know many of you object to this!. i just want to know why, seeing as to me it appears to be a waste of life to leave an animal to rot when it could be consumed!?
i don't know!. i'd love your thoughts though please :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
I am vegan for dietary reasons, and road kill is still made from animal protein, so no I wouldn't eat it!. Even if I wasn't vegan, I still wouldn't eat it because a) that's really unhygienic and b) it's not going to waste, it's some other animal's dinner!. I've got far tastier things at home in my fridge, so good luck to the flies, ants or Tasmanian devils who will be having road kill for tea tonight!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat it but I don't object to it!. I would rather people eat animals that are already dead/dead by accident than go out and take another life!. Its better to eat wild animals than farmed who have suffered horrific lives, and its better to eat wild animals that have died accidentally than to go out and shoot some yourself!.
I have tried to find roadkill to give my cats, because I don't want to buy meat for them which comes from farms and I can't afford to buy wild meat, its so expensive here in the UK!. I've never found any roadkill though!.
If everyone in the world was vegetarian then I might object to humans eating roadkill as its disrespectful, but I would still think it was ok to give to carnivores such as cats!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Roadkill is essential nutrition for other animals (i!.e!. coyotes, hawks, ravens, even eagles, etc!.) who love the taste of eyeballs and guts and the things that only those in third world countries would eat!.
Besides, if you think of the impact that it takes to actually kill an animal with a vehicle, how much of that meat do you think is bruised and how much do you think is edible!?

To answer your question (I'm not a vegi), I would only eat the non bruised part of what was wounded on the road and had to be euthanized by me personally!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Funny question!. I lived in Illinois for some odd years and the cops always had a "road kill list"!.

If you really thought about letting all the cows, pigs, chickens, deer and others live, wouldn't you be more cautious on the road!?

The north has 'culling' of wild game as well as hunting!. It keeps the population down so there are less accidents on the road!.

Just look at the "Miracle on the Hudson"!. If we ate more goose, maybe they wouldn't have hit two birds with one plane!.

I'm not a veg head, but I once was!. Now, as an adult, I understand hunting and culling!. It protects us!. I don't truely like it, but I see the necessity of it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't eat it!. I don't feel the animal would go to waste rather that I was taking food away from other animals who need it and would enjoy it!. The animal would be eaten by scavengers and insects and as it rotted its remains would then contribute to the nutrient content of the soil!.

I eat what I like and what I want and won't be labeled!. I have hit a deer with my car and taken my knife and gutted it out to take home!. You do not leave 180 pounds of venison with a broken neck laying in a ditch!. I eat very little meat in my diet but I do like venison and if I don't have to sit in the woods to shoot one it is even better!. They should stay off the roads at night!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you found an animal in the road that had been run over!. How could you determine the animal hadn't died on the road before being run over!. Possibly the animal was sick and because of that, then got run over!. It may have been sick anyway!. Why risk eating meat that may not be fit to eat!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i dont think you'd get many "Yes" answers if this wasnt in the Veg & Veeg section either!.!.!.who really wants to eat roadkill!? And its hardly "naturally" dying, its getting hit by a car!.!.!.if you got hit by a car when you were 15 did you live a long, full life yet!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

would you eat a member of your family or a friend after he/she'd died a natural death!?!!?
I wouldn't!.
So would you eat an animal that died naturally!.
If you answered no above, then that should be your answer now!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would never eat road kill!.
I'm a vegetarian!.
I would hate the feeling of eating an animal that was once alive, that's a reason why i became vegetarian!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's better than eating farmed (enslaved) animals,
all the same I would object!.
The dead should be buried!.

They have roadkill diners!. That's sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Ethically speaking, yes!. Would I do it, no!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
