Im A Vegetarian And I Dont Know What To Do...?!
Is it horrible if I eat shrimp one time!? My friend's family has cooked shrimp for me, and i haven't told them that I am vegetarian!. What do you think!? I'm going over there in about 4 hours!. Please help!. Should I eat the shrimp, to make them feel better!? Or pretend to be sick, and not go!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
Dont eat the shrimp
And, when you get there and it is time to eat, ooh and ahh about how everything smells and looks SO GOOD
ask out loud with a big smile on your face "who wants my shrimp!?!?"
When they ask, just say "oh, I don't eat meat, but I can't wait to dig into those Noodles/salad/yummy looking whatever"
Don't make your vegetarianism a focus-- instead turn the focus to the generosity they have show you and the good food
Bringing a hostess gift will go a looooong way to charming them into overlooking this shrimp business!. If you have 10 bucks, buy flowers!. If you have less, buy something fancy and unexpected (like a big glass bottle of mineral water)
edit)) Gosh, why am I getting the thumbs down!? My point about not eating the shrimp and being thankful for the rest of the meal was awesome!. Doesn't make any sense, sorry but I don't deserve the thumbs down!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would call them right now and tell them!.
If they are going to have it ready in 4 hours then they probably have not cooked it yet and they can fix you something and everyone else can have shrimp!. If they refuse to cook you anything else, I personally would be pissed and not go, lol, not really, but just bring some veggie food!. Make sure when you tell then that you are vegetarian that you also mention you do not eat seafood!. A lot of people thing vegetarians eat seafood for some reason!Www@FoodAQ@Com

As much as people will tell you "NO! DON'T DO IT!!!"!.!.!.that decision is pretty much up to you!.
My son has been veg for almost 2 years now, but does eat fish or shrimp on occasion when he goes out!. Both he and I are celiac (meaning we can't eat anything made with or around wheat, rye, oats, or barley), and he is also lactose intolerant and allergic to eggs!. It really gets to where he can't order anything but a plain salad or plain baked potato most places (which is really boring and pretty much sucks for an 11yo kid), but there are usually several good seafood options that he can have!.
So, he made the choice that every once in a while he'll eat seafood!. That's a personal choice that he made, and it's his right!. If you choose to eat shrimp this one time in order to be gracious to your friend's family, that is fine and is your choice to make!. If you choose not to, it's also fine and is your choice to make!. Just call over to let them know and ask if you can bring something to share!.
Whatever you do, be honest about it!. Don't fake your way out of it to avoid making a decision!.!.!.it's just not the right thing to do!. Either decision is fine, but it really is your decision!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your friend should have told them you were vegetarian earlier!. But, don't make excuses and not go!. Just explain that you're a vegetarian, and only eat the other things they have that don't have any meat or fish in them!. Maybe you could make (or stop & get) a couple of loaves of fresh garlic bread to bring!. That goes really well with shrimp, and you'd at least have the bread to eat!Www@FoodAQ@Com
NO!
No, don't do it! This is the same pathetic
reason so many people give for eating
meat!. Lot of people say that they felt bad
about making other people go out of their
way to cook for them, but what happened
to feeling sorry for the animals!? Its not just
a silly inconvenience for them, they're f***ing
dying by the million each day!
Do the right thing and put your beliefs first!.
Don't do it, it is not a vegetarian thing to do
and nobody will have any respect for your
choices if you sell out like this!.
DONT DO ITWww@FoodAQ@Com

Do what YOU want, not what other people want you to do!. Is it so important for you to please complete strangers!?
