okay farmers market stuff will last longer, just because the people that grew it probably just plucked it out of the ground right before you buy it, but it is winter now, so if you go to the store, put the stuff you buy in new baggies right away!. If they came in a bag, like salad greens do,take them out of that bag, put them in a new bag!. I do this with everything i buy!.Mushrooms, don t wash them till you are going to eat them, just get them out of that container into a bag!. also, you can use Tupperware, they have a great one for celery, it actually works, keeps it crisp and freah!. It is long, so the whole stalk fits in there!. You can also with greens, wash them, wrap in a paper towel, and then keep getting a new paper twel for them, new baggie!.Keep what they are in clean fresh!.Keep them away from apples, like in another drawer in the fridge, or another part of the counter!.Apples emit a gas that ripens fruit and veggies, good if you want to do that !. Otherwise separate them!. also put a small bowl or Tupperware type container or just the whole open box , of Baking Soda in your veggie drawer!.
I can t guarantee how long this will keep the veggies, but it will improve the quality of what you have!. I like the sand idea too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

For green leafy veg, the best way to go is to grow them yourself and then they don't need to be stored in the fridge at all!
I would suggest that you don't want to keep any veg in the fridge for that long though!.!.!. altho from my experience carrots tend to do pretty well!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Leafy ones are breading grounds for bacteria so really only 3 days!.!.!.things like carrots/peppers/cucmuners can be pushed up to a week and arent as bad as far as the whole breeding grounds for bacteria thing!. But really you should try to buy them from produce markets where they will almost always be fresher!.!.!.or farmers markets which is the best place possiblle!. Farmers market stuff usually keeps longer also!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
