What's Quorn!?

Most foods have a best before date on them!.!.!.unless the stuff is teaming in mold, has been opened and left sitting, or otherwise tampered with, it should be ok to eat!. Best before dates are put on foods so that we throw them out and buy more!.!.!.!.most things are so well preserved (ie: chemical soup) that they don't technically go bad!.

Look at Twinkies!. They have dates on them!. But, they also have a 7 year shelf life!. Makes you wonder, doesn't it!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

With the quorn specifically in mind, if it's been kept chilled rather than frozen I wouldn't risk it!. Being made from a fungus, I think the risk is too great!. If frozen, go ahead!.

Generally, out of date food splits into two categories whether it's a best before or use by date!. Best before in usually for guidance and there is leeway; use by food needs to be treated with more respect as there may be very sound health reasons why that date has been set!.

Common sense needs to apply to these decisions either wayWww@FoodAQ@Com

LOL I'd eat it!! Quorn never lasts that long in my freezer though - I virtually live on the stuff!.!! Cook it and smell it - I'm sure your nose will tell you if its off, but I very much doubt it!. Nowt in it to go off!!Www@FoodAQ@Com

If still raw you can cook with great confidence and no prob!. If already cooked smell if it smell sour, if it does through it away, if not eat and enjoy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

yesWww@FoodAQ@Com

bad to eat out of date food lolWww@FoodAQ@Com

it all depends on weather it is frozen or not, if its frozen it will be fine but if its not, i wouldn't risk it!. also quorn is made up of a fungi called mycoprotein so eating a gone off fungi cant be good for your digestive system it would probably produce toxins and bacteria alot quicker than other foodsWww@FoodAQ@Com
